What is a "milkdud", anyway?

It's a type of candy--a small clump of caramel coated in chocolate.
However, I think in this case, it's better to look at the two halves of the word, milk and dud.
Milk here comes from the earlier epithet for Brian, milktoast.
Dud, of course, is something useless that doesn't work.
Rather appropo, don't you think? ;D

What exactly do you think Lulu wants from our Nick? He may not be able to string two words together when he talks to her but he certainly can look at her intensly and she notices THAT. She can't be completly clueless about his feelings for her and yet......this Brian marriage thing is so perplexing. Is she SOOO insecure that she would sacrifice true love for a woos and a philanderer? She could have just put off the marriage...to gather a little more information about Nick......Did Brian pressure her??? Did he realize that there was electricity between Nick and Lulu and figure he better rope her in while he could? I need to talk to the writers!

Okay, just for a breather, let's look at this from the- pssssst-real world.... do I know any females who have acted like Lulu? Yes. they honestly don't have a clue. My friend Pam has men falling all over her and she thinks it's interesting, but she's involved with a guy. that's that. And she's done a few things, but, you know, she's involved with a guy. And a few guys have been really hurt, but, you know, she's-oh, yeah, I told you. She's very up front with them. she may find them attractive but,... well, you get the picture.

Re Lulu and the vagaries of some of us women--Heinrich Heine best summed it up: "The human heart is a dark, dark forest."

blind....they're all blind. Maybe, in Pam's case, if the "other" guy made a bigger move....really went crazy....would she take note then? Our Nick could certainly be more forthcoming with his feelings...he must show Lulu that there is no doubt that he wants to be in the running for her affections....too much ineptness and pride, I think. So he loses the girl and the girl loses the love her life...Let that be a lesson to us all. You have to venture BIG to gain BIG

I thnk Pam deserves the milkdud she's with. If she behaves like that, she deserves the rewards. And I really wonder about those guys who go after her after she's told them she's involved with someone else. Are they losers? ding, ding, hello? Is anybody home in their heads? or just their pants?
