Okay folks this was the most powerful episode of the season! I'll start by saying that Simon deserves a truck load of Emmy Awards for his performance in tonight's episode! This guy can act!! So my fellow fans here are the highlights....
The suicide attempt was by Hunter Reed's father! The father was obviously suffering from depression over the fact that he murdered his wife. The father asked Nick to be trustee for the million dollar settlement Hunter received and Nick accepted The only bright spot in the show was Nick bringing Hunter home after the two of them went to a baseball game together...Nick was actually smiling and having a good time for a change! (after which Hunter discovered his dying father) LuLu ran off and married the cad Brian , who remains very much alive--too bad! (I think that Hollander hates Nick because this scene was unnecessarily cruel!) James quit Legal Services (Alvin is an idiot and its all his fault!) Nick and Jake plotted to set up their own firm with a few other associates and steal all of the big clients Caldwell brought Mitchell back to the firm and the firm is now called Caldwell & Associates!!! Mandy showed up at Nick's house very, very high and Nick stupidly let her in...a struggle ensued and Mandy fell hard to the floor and her heart stopped! Nick called 911 and Burton showed up revealing to Nick the deal he made with Caldwell that kept Nick out of jail with respect to the drug charges and in return he promised Caldwell a partnership and it turns out that Mitchell knows about the deal which will be trouble for Burton on the bench(the judgeship was unrelated) but Nick wouldn't let him in the door because Mandy was lying unconscious on the floor a few feet away. With Nick's whole world crumbling around him he makes a call to his father's voice mail leaving a message that almost had me crying along with him...in the end he told his father that he loves him...
Excellent episode but so very cruel to Nick...it seems that the entire show has fallen apart...

Wimper...
OK
1) What happens to Hunter? Does he go back to his grandparents?
2) Lulu married milktoast! BITCH! I HATE HER NOW. STUPID COW - I want to :hit: her
3) So James is out of the series? DH probably got sick of us yawning over his sub-plots
4) So there is no Fallin & Associates now? Did Nick and Jake go ahead and resign? Or was that left in the air? I like Nick when he is in corporate shark mode.
5) Did Nick complete calling 911 before his Dad arrived. Did he do CPR? Is Mandy definitely cactus?
6) When did Nick ring his father and what did he say?

1) The court awarded custody of Hunter to his Grandparents (nick felt badly and that it was all his fault that Hunter had to suffer again and apologized to the boy)
2) I used to like LuLu but now I hate her...they need to give Nick someone to love...quick!
3) James could be persuaded to return but his storyline got in the way tonight...so who knows
4) Nick and Jake have not officially resigned
5) Nick completed the 911 call and told them that he had a woman with no pulse (the cocaine likely stopped her heart)
6) Nick called his father after the 911 call and after Burton left Nick's house...he told him that he came to F&A because he wanted to work with him because he respected him...he also said that he was sorry for everything and that he was afraid that he screwed up things ("like I always seem to do") and then while fighting back tears he told his dad that he loves him....fade to black

Between this and JAG, I'm in total shock...and now I am not feeling very kindly toward Lulu either, even though I liked her up until now. Simon did a great job, especially at the end when he called his father. Maybe James will hook up with Nick and Jake. OMG...I'm so sad right now...

Jamie Brown is Mandy... Whimper big time... Burton is back on my good side, but I'd hate to see how he'll take that 'heart-wrenching' call that Nick made. I too watched the last half an hour of JAG and was shocked with what happened to Bud :bawling: I adored this episode, I hate Mandy, Lulu (bastard), Mitchell and even Senator Caldwell. The Cop was an  son of a ... something or another Adored Nick, Jake, Burton and James (felt for James big time)... I hate 'Caldwell & Associates'... desperately wants to know what happens next for Poor Nick :bawling: I seriously was close to tears but crying about a show in front of my parents would make me have that lecture about 'its only a television show' ... you know that lecture by now right? :grinyes:

Here we go friends . . .
Nick comes running down the stairs at F&A, and heads straight into his father’s office. Burton has called everyone into his office to announce that he has received his appointment to the Federal bench, and as a result will be resigning from the firm. Senator Caldwell will be taking over as managing partner, and therefore the firm will now be called Caldwell and Associates.
Hearing this, Nick angrily slips out of the office, saying nothing to anyone. Caldwell notices, and is not pleased. Burton also notices.
Out in the reception area, the detective is waiting to talk to Nick about Mandy’s whereabouts. He questions Nick in detail, and tells him that he knows Mandy will come back to Pittsburgh, and that she will contact Nick because he’s a lawyer and has money. He give Nick his cell phone number and tells him to call if he hears anything.
A little later, Nick goes into his father’s office. Caldwell is there, and mentions that he knows Nick is upset, but he hopes that they will be able to work together smoothly. Nick looks him squarely in the eye and asks if Caldwell intends on making him partner. Caldwell replies that he doesn’t want to start making changes this early in his tenure—wait and see.
Nick is still obviously livid over it all, and walks out.

Nick heads over to LSP. He goes to Lulu’s office to pick up a file. Upon knocking and opening the door, he hears her yelling angrily into the phone. She looks up, says “Just a minute—I’ll be with you in just a minute.” She quickly finishes the call and gets off the phone. Very agitated, she explains about further stressors over the wedding. She’s standing close to Nick, and he reaches out and tucks her hair behind her ear. She’s a little nonplussed at this, but she hands him the file he needs. He asks if she’s ok (with a tender little look on his face). She assures him she is, and he leaves.

Dr. Reed shows up at F&A to talk to Nick. He explains that he is unhappy with his choice for secondary trustee for Hunter’s money (they won 5 million which is in trust until Hunter is 25. Dr. Reed is the primary trustee, Hunter’s maternal grandfather, Mr. Sample is the secondary trustee). Nick says this is no problem, the trustee can be changed. Dr. Reed tells Nick that he wants Nick to be the trustee. Nick is surprised, but agrees.

In the reception area, Nick runs into Mitchell Lichtman. Appalled, Nick immediately heads to Burton’s office demanding to know what’s going on. Burton informs him that Caldwell has brought Mitchell back, as of the partner’s meeting the night before.
Nick is livid, saying that Caldwell had this planned all along, and that’s why he let Burton do the firing. Burton explains it’s out of his hands now. Nick wants to know in what position Mitchell is back, and Burton has to tell him it’s as partner.
Catching Jake in the hallway, Nick tells him that he knows Jake screwed him over with Mitchell and the Senator in order to try to get in on their government center thingy. Jake replies that he’s sorry, but he had to do something as he couldn’t handle securities. Nick points out that despite what the SCC wanted, Burton kept him on because he like him and trusted him. He then tells Jake that they both know they can’t trust the senator and Mitchell, to which Jake wholeheartedly agrees. Nick lists off a number of other senior associates, and tells Jake to get them together and bring them to the clinic at 9 pm that night.
At the clinic, in a side story I won’t go into in detail, James asks Nick to represent him in a hearing about his custody of Levi and the fact that James is teaching him to box.

That night, Nick, Jake, and five other associates from F&A meet at LSP and decide to go out on their own. They figure they can take their current clients with them (Caldwell and Lictman won’t be able to hang on to them), and by keeping their overhead down, do pretty well.
As Nick is getting to his car in the garage, Mandy slips into the passenger seat. She tells him she needs $6,000. Nick tells her that she’s got to go to the police. She asks if he doesn’t realize that she saved his life—that Lenny was going to kill him. Nick says that he’s told the police everything. She’s clearly not happy at this and threatens to tell the police they were involved or something else to get Nick in trouble. When he starts calling the detective’s cell phone, she gets out of the car and heads off.

Back at F&A, Dr. Reed shows up to finish the paperwork about trustees. As he is walking Dr. Reed out, he tells Reed how he would like to spend some time with Hunter. Reed says ok, what about tonight. He tells Nick that they have tickets to a baseball game that night, and that he can’t go because he needs to talk with this college where he is considering taking a teaching job. Nick agrees, and arranges a time to pick Hunter up.
Nick goes in to talk to Burton. Burton tells Nick that he has persuaded Caldwell to let Nick have Burton’s office. Nick thanks him, but tells Burton he’s not staying. Burton is surprised, asking what Nick plans to do. Nick tells him that he and a few others from there have decided to start their own firm. When Burton asks him when he came to that decision, Nick tells him that he decided that today. Burton asks if he’s supposed to keep this knowledge under wraps, and Nick says he would appreciate it if Burton would. Burton also tries to explain to Nick that he brought Caldwell in to cushion things for Nick. Nick tells him that he thought of that, but it makes no difference.

Nick takes Hunter to the ballgame. We see them returning to the Reed house, and he and Hunter are discussing baseball—it’s a truly wonderful scene. They say goodnight, and Nick watches from the car as Hunter goes up the steps and enters the house. Once the boy is safely inside, Nick leaves.
Nick arrives home, and checks his answering machine. There’s a message from Alvin telling him that Thomas Reed is in the hospital after attempting suicide. Nick immediately rushes to the hospital.
At the hospital, he’s met by Alvin, who explains that Reed’s stomach has been pumped. Nick asks if Hunter found his father, and Alvin answers in the affirmative. Nick then goes over to Hunter to try to talk to him, but the grandfather cuts in and tells Nick off, telling him, “Why don’t you just leave.”
Nick goes outside, followed by Alvin. Alvin’s trying to be the good sponsor and tries to get Nick to talk about it. Nick, very distraught, turns to Alvin and says “Look, I don’t want to hangout, I don’t want to talk Alvin, I don’t want to be your friend, I don’t want to hear your recovery story,” and walks off.
