Well, if our Canadian spoilers are anything to go by it isn't Nick who can't commit. It seems its LuLu that wants to keep playing it fast and loose. She hopes Nick doesn't mind if she dates her yoga instructor!
I'm really finding it hard to believe after this that she is in love with Nick. Wants his body, no doubt. But love? Forget it!

I totally agree! I mean, she's the one who announces she's seeing other people--not Nick!
Wow--who would have thought that Lulu would turn out to be the "loose" one?
And who can blame Nick for not wanting to sleep with her in the bed she shared with Brian? Yikes!
Can't wait to see this one!

You'll notice it takes Nick all of 5 minutes to find someone else to date. That must drive Lulu insane. LOL

Leonie Once again, since we don't have the exact dialogue and haven't yet seen the episode -- its hard to judge the situation with only bits and pieces. That said, this was not how I interpreted the spoilers at all. I don't think that Lulu and Nick are quite "together" at the beginning of the episode, and that perhaps she is asking Nick how he feels about her going out with the Yoga Man because while he has shown interest in the past -- since the accident it has been more concern than romantic desire. Perhaps this is prompting him to make a move. Also, besides sending Lulu off to *have fun with her Yoga man* Nick does asks Claire out, ahem, "after the court house fact" as well... There's a bit of a conflict there if you ask me... As for Lulu's feelings toward Nick, I wouldn't be so quick to judge them. I think the episode itself and the one that follows should be very telling.

This is where I feel sorry for Nick! I always got the idea that Nick was being used, which is why those spoilers regarding them having sex all over the place has made me cringe so darn much. How can she not love Nick? Lulu is a very strange person

Well, if previous speculation about "All the Rage" and Nick's need for anger management counselling is correct, then maybe this is the beginning stages of the eruption of all that repressed anger. Nick's response to Burton, with respect to fostering Shannon, was certainly a lot milder than what I was expecting given his interview with Laurie. Do you think the reference to always wanting a sister was sarcasm or just dry humour? The two scenes didn't seem to reflect the same meaning.

BTW Leonie, I agree with your assessment of the situation completely. I don't think Lulu is "in love" with Nick and I think he knows it but just can't help himself when it comes to enjoying what is on offer anyway. I did enjoy watching this unfold last night, no nice little romantic package tied up in a frilly bow to be put on the shelf and admired. It leaves lots of possibilities for future shows and the much sought after Nick angst.

Thank you Sarah for the very thoughtful post. Whoohoo - my VCR will be smokin' tonight, I KNOW!!! ;D I agree with your points, also I've never found Lulu to have crass/crude motives when it comes to Nick or anyone else.... if she did -- I don't think he would be so smitten/in love with her. TG did not create the character of Lulu just so Nick can one day have a revelation that she is a horrible person that has no feelings. From reading the Canadian viewers breakdown, it appears her motive/her purpose is to make "Teflon man," FEEL things, and most importantly [glow=red,2,300]demonstrate[/glow] that he FEELS things - and judging from all the lusting, jealousy, and raging arguments she's accomplishing that end by what she does in these next few episodes before the season wraps! I for one am happy about that. ;D Next step will be actually getting Nick to talk, in which case she will have to be even more diabolical. :biglaugh: As I said before, Lulu has her issues too. I think she'll want as much as Nick can give, she wants the whole ball of wax - and from what it sounds like, she may have to manipulate him a bit to get it, , which is all good imo! TG is about angst, and Nick angst specifically. There's been a theme throughout the Guardian's run actually - in that there are good people of good character who will sometimes do bad things (these are most of the people on TG), and that there are people of bad character. TG has been pretty heavy handed in giving us clues as to who's who. So reading things that state Lulu hates him, and doesn't care about him, etc., is not only alien to me -- but also something I don't feel the TG creators would have any interest in portraying. It only emphasizes to me just how biased we all are in what we watch based on what we want to happen and what our perceptions of characters are. People are polarized about this, and usually subjective as to how they'd like to see things pan out. Including me. The Canadian viewer who posted her review of the ep seemed to view it objectively however, and she found this episode really enjoyable -- said there was something for everyone. My feelings are hot & lusty should be for everyone - but I'm sure, even that will be viewed critically, (i.e., "Lulu's a bad kisser, why did she look at Nick all googly-eyed, she grabbed him totally wrong!") LOLOL But whatever...I for one can't wait to see it, and will love it all!! :bouncing::bouncing::bouncing:

Good points, Rosiiii As commentary from past episodes has proven, we all see things differently. I believe that each viewer brings a certain amount of bias to their post, whether its intentional or not. With such strong feelings about the characters (and on other boards, the actors/actresses who portray them), I think its hard to be objective when commenting about the latest episodes. As for the statements about Lulu and her motivations, I do think she is liable to be a bit reserved with her display of feelings. She's coming off a relationship that she has been in "like forever" and apparently has no idea what real love is. With Brian, its clear that they had more than a physical relationship, but whatever it was (I don't think it was love) just wasn't enough to hold them together. Lulu has spent the past God knows how many years thinking she was in love with a man who betrayed their marriage, hesistance might be a plus before going down the wrong path again. Till now, Nick has provided Lulu with that emotional closeness through their friendship and a desire/yearning that she didn't have with Brian, all done without becoming physically close to her. Also, look at Nick. He doesn't exactly have the best history with relationships. The idea of "sex only" has been a comforting safety net -- when things get too close for his personal comfort... he bolts for the door. Lulu has changed things for him, he sought her friendship and became emotionally attached to her in ways that he was with no other woman. IMO, she was more his confidant and got to know him better than most of the women he'd slept with. Now... everything changes by throwing them together in a post-argument, fit of enraged hormones. True, its not the "romantic bliss" that many Nick and Lulu fans were hoping for, but I think its a step in the right direction. There were no promises made for instant gratification with the story or a happy ending guarantees. I think Hollander is purposely showing Lulu's confusion and perhaps some reluctance on Nick's part because in truth, neither one of them knows much about love-- they certainly didn't learn about stable relationships from their respective parents -- and part of Nick's journey will be finding out. I think this storyline can also be crucial to the development of Lulu's character, because up till whenever it was that she and Brian had finally called it quits, the woman was essentially living a lie. While she is just now figuring out what she wants, I don't think that she is out to hurt Nick or use him. As Rosiiii had said, I see neither the interest nor the intent with Hollander & Co. to have Lulu's character do a 180 like that. Hollander said in an article last year that Nick would meet someone, and that it "wouldn't be easy." Their relationship certainly hasn't been thus far, and I don't think it ever will. Perhaps this is what I find so enjoyable about Nick and Lulu together, besides their incredible chemistry, they aren't perfect -- but instead, perfectly flawed.

Do you think the reference to always wanting a sister was sarcasm or just dry humour? The two scenes didn't seem to reflect the same meaning. I think they were trying a bit too hard to show the beginning stages of the eruption. Unfortunately, Simon is usually so good at showing smoldering emotion through eyes and body tension that I was disappointed by the blatant demonstration of his feelings. I'm not quite sure why he had to have so much trouble hiding his emotions last night. Why should it be so visible, are they afraid we can't see the obvious? I suppose one could theorise that Nick had time to prepare for talking to Burton, but even there, the lack of a typical Simon intensity and edge seemed noticeable. It just didn't seem to be there last night and I think it should have prevaded that scene if he's really gong to erupt soon. I do think the sister comment, was a bit more sarcasm than humour as Shannon is hardly the type or age of sister he could have imagined. However it wasn't really backed by particular tension in Simon.

Well, some comments: First for all the people who are saying that LuLu is not in love with Nick, i just not very sure.... well i don´t think she is sure about that either, but i still remember her mother telling her SHE WAS IN LOVE WITH ANOTHER MAN(Nick). So let me keep dreaming with love in here. Something that i didn´t expect was how Nick react to his father question are you all right with this(being a foster parent of Shannon)? He aswer I´ve always wanted a sister? Is he nuts? take note about this scene, Gin, we need details tonight!, how can he react like that i would be so furious in his position.... OK, another thing.. i found delighted about L trying to get Nick jelous with the yoga guy and same by Nick with that Claire girl, who is certainly showing she has very sharp nails... be aware fallins i´ve already said i don´t like this girl she is gonna be a lot of trouble. I want to know more details about Nick and Colin meeting... and nick asking James to represent him(Colin)... Nicky has a good heart he just hide it a little.... ok a lot, isn´t he cute... ;D

Hi Canview. Since I am only a moderate technowhiz I have yet to master the ability to reproduce your post so I can show what I am responding to, my apologies.
I share your disappointment in the scene between Burton and Nick re: Shannon. I was quite surprised at how low-key it was I wonder if it could be his attempt to overcome his initial anger and try harder with his father. I was expecting it to be more of the "smouldering anger and intensity" of which you speak. It certainly wasn't very satisfying.
I did enjoy the episode, not as much as other episodes, it won't tear at your heart strings like some, but I found the Nick/Lulu scenes very funny.
