I've been watching TG for a while and what i noticed about this show is that not one of the cast member is in a long term relationship and if it is, it is very trivial and heartbrakingly depicted (ie, Nick and Burton, Carolyn and LuLu, James and his nephew...)
Having said this i don't understand why some people are so critical about Nick and LuLu's relationship, even suprised about how this relationship has progressed.
For those who are critical about this relationship i understand where they're comming from. I mean, sometimes before WIMTY episode, I wanted to scream at the tv, "Will you guys just do it and get it over with!!!"
Out of the two characters, we know Nick probably best and are more sensitive and empathize with him simply because we know more about him than LuLu. We all know what it's like to pine for someone and know the disappointment when they don't return those same feelings.
But didn't DH say that he wanted this show to reflect real life characters? If this is the case, then this week's episode shouldn;t be such a big shocker. DH has created two characters that easily be someone we might know or (yikes!) may even reflect a part of us (or all of us*LOL*). We all know how easy it ease to turn around and run from whatever overwhelms us. We also know the frustration that comes trying to figure out someone we care about or have feelings for. For me, their relationship reflects what real relationships are all about, trying to understand each other.
So for those, who don't approve of how this relationship is unfolding, just remember, it's just a show. Take for what it is: a great piece of entertainment skillfully crafted by Hollander and Co. With all the "24's" and "Alias" shows that are out on the tube, which i luv coz i allow me to escape to different world for an hour. But with the Guardian, i does the opposite, i makes me think about my life and how i live it. It makes me think of my relationships with people who i care about most in my life.
