A place to just chit chat about incidental things: such as Burton has smoked only one ciggy since season two began, Burton has lost a lot of weight, Nick's speech is more fluent, not as much stuttering or stammering, there was more eye contact between NF and BF in the first episode then there was in the entire first season.
I thought in Testimony Nick should have been given a punishment for probation violations. They should have made a valuable example out of the situation by giving Nicky another 1500 hours of community service. This will ensure a third season.

Excellent powers of observation Gine ... I've also noticed that Nick's hair is way too long this season. I'm not watching season 2 until he gets a bloody haircut!! :devilangry: Those black shirts also bug the hell outta me, and Terribly Buttoned Up Nick was just way more appealing. OK, ranting over ... for now.

Back for more ranting ... I loved Nick's stuttering & stammering. DH had no right to take that out of the script. @sshole!! ... Nickandkimsex, now that I can really do without. I just don't like the sound of Kim, for some reason ... agghh. ... whew. OK, I'm done. I'm writing a huge exam in a few hours ... I needed to vent. :baaa:

I thought about it for a while and have come to the conclusion that season #2 is indeed different. The story line is changed, (more attention to other people and/or problems, and less Nick Fallin) plus the acting is different; less stressful and suspenseful, especially again with Nick. He has become less mysterious and more "everyday lawyer". We all knew that he was a troubled person with lots of problems, not to mention being rude, etc. etc. but you still love him, you still hope for the best and you bite your nails until the end of the show, and you can't wait for the next one......hoping all will be ok., and then it isn't! I wonder if DH has anything to do with it. I read in an interview somewhere that at the new season he would be the only one in charge, since Michael Pressman was leaving, and that he wanted the man (Nick Fallin) to grow some,....."give him a home, give him an office; let him breathe a little". Well, I think he - DH - is ruin the whole concept of the show. and if this goes on long enough he's losing viewers, with consequently CBS canceling.! Worse yet,.....Simon Baker leaving the show.:cussing: I read an interresting interview this morning in "The Star Ledger" by Alan Sepinwall:" 'The Guardian' star speaks his mind." via nj.com. You can find it by going to the " iconic" website. "SimonSphere.com" In the interview I sensed a little concern in Simon Baker himself, about the chance of the show, by saying that by going too much away from the original script of the character, it becomes more of a soap opera. No matter what, I will watch this show 'till the end, because I love the character "Nick Fallin", and also Simon Baker, but it would be a big shame if this show would fade just because David Hollander strayed. ~~bakergirl~~

For my latest version of "Just something I've noticed . . ."
What do you think of what little we saw of Nick's house? Was anyone else as disappointed in the kitchen (or shall I say kitchenette) as I was?

You are absolutely correct Gin about the layout of NF's home.
A kitchen that opens onto the livingroom is not usually found in houses. Also, the formal dining room was on the far side of the foyer. Guess that is OK if you have your formal dinners catered or a housekeeper serving the dinner. Wonder who keeps his house so clean or should I say sterile?
Also, something was different about the foyer. Could it have been different doors? It seemed that in the 1st season he did not have windows beside the front door. Also, when you looked into the living room at the fallen Mandy, there was a fire place on the wall directly opposite the steps into the livingroom.
NF also left by the front door and again by the kitchen door. Did both doors lead to the front of the house?
NF must have used his summer to remodel his home. Not sure it is really a bachelor pad. Everything to expensive and neat - could his home be only a place to hide from the world and not really one he lives in.

Love Simon's longer hair this season. What can I say? I'm a product of the 80's. Nice to see the curls. ;D Did anyone notice that he seemed to have had it cut part way through "The Dark", only to have it longer again by the end of the episode? Check it out when he's offering to tie one on with Alvin. Seems a bit shorter than in other parts of the episode.

Yes, skater. I did notice the change in hair cut and parting. Also, did you notice in The Dark, Nick starts out in a green shirt at F@F, then goes to Legal Services and shows up in a striped shirt, and goes back to F@F in a green shirt. Was this all on the same day or did Nick wear the same shirt two days in a row? I didn't even know he owned a green shirt! His father told him in a previous episode not to wear green because his client would have a melt down. I thought that was a ridiculous statement since BF and NF only wore white and blue in season one. Oh, well, Nick also stated at the end of that episode he didn't want to be like his dad, so I guess he went out and bought a green shirt out of spite!! Yeah Nicky!
In the episode The Dark it looks like BF is back to chain smoking again. Must be the doctor forgot to tell him that smoking would raise his eye pressure, a bad sign for glaucoma. I was surprised how Burton lives away from the office. He didn't take care of himself as the doctor instructed. His living habits were slovenly, ashes dropped anywhere, feet up on the coffee table (with shoes on!). At the office, he is dressed impecably, office is neat as a pin, desk top perfectly set. What an about face of character. From my stand point, Nick had a right to sound off at his father. Although, I do believe Burton hit a nerve and has an honest concern for his son.

Another little thing that I noticed. In "The Dark", at the beginning when Nick is talking with Alvin at LSP he is hold a mug of coffee in his right hand. Mid sentence, camera angle change, and viola, it is magically in his left hand.

Just viewed the pictures from Pittsburgh. Wow ! Nice job. Captions and explanations were great. I need to catch up on a few tid bits. Who are the Guardian Angels? Were they invited to Pittsburgh to view the filming?
Stella really holds her father's attention! It is so sweet. She is adorable. Who entertained her the whole time. It must have been long, grueling days for her as well as the cast and crew. Too bad the weather didn't hold up. The week or two before was beautiful.
I enjoyed this whole segment. Thanks!!!

No one has commented on Burton's hat in the last episode. I can't believe Nick didn't burst out laughing! I wonder how many times they had to take that scene?

It's about the Nick-mobile. Starting with second season (cannot vouch for 1st), we've never seen the back of the car. It's a minor point, but in Pennsylvania license plates appear only on the rear bumper ... and it would very likely that Nick would have what's called a "vanity plate" like --- Fallin II, NF - JD, BMW4ME. I'm not very good with symbols and acronyms ... my own plate is simply SMH CPA for the accounting license. Also, I think there is probaby a Nick-mobile in LA and another one leased in PA for location shooting. Having worked in the area of Pittsburgh where this is filmed, I hope he has the proximity to walk between F&F and LSP, because parking is scarce & expensive. It seems that I remember early in the series Nick telling Laurie that he had never served a client in court, since he is a corporate attorney. Well, he seems to have come a long way with his defense of Louisa Olsen in this episode. His presentation before the board carried just the right amount of truth and emotion to clear the case. Wake up Louisa, he is the best at what he does -- so start letting him do, unto you even.
