LSP Aikens comes back to see Nick again. He’s still got Evan with him, and he’s babbling. Nick asks if he’s drunk. Aikens says no, but tries to tell Nick how they just went across the state line to Ohio to the College Football Hall of Fame. Nick asks if they’ve called Tina, and when Aikens says no, starts calling her himself.

Restaurant. Lulu and her father are at the restaurant for dinner, but Nick hasn’t arrived. When her dad asks if she told Nick, she says yes, that she reminded him two times. Her father says it’s rude of Nick not to show up or call. When he asks if she’s thought about the painting business, she admits that she doesn’t want to invest. He gets aggravated, asking if that’s what Nick told her to say. He then goes on to tell her that he thinks her shirt too tight for a lawyer that she should pay more attention to how she dresses, as she doesn’t want people to get the wrong impression of her. Lulu is not amused.

Lulu’s house Nick comes in, kisses Lulu sweetly on the lips, and apologizes for missing dinner. He explains that there was an emergency in the Pete Aikens case. Lulu says it’s okay, but her dad interrupts, growling “You should have called, or didn’t they teach you that at that fancy prep school?” Lulu tells him to back off, and tells Nick to go on home, she has to deal with this. He asks if she’s sure, and when she says yes, he kisses her again and leaves.

Very funny Spunky. You can tell I've been around teenagers too long. Let me revise that sentence to say that the guy "looks at his derriere as he walks out."

LSP Nick meets with Aikens again. He explains that Aikens took Evan across the state line. Aikens agrees. Nick asks if it is true that Aikens had a gun in the car. Again he agrees that it’s true. Nick explains that in taking Evan across the state line, by having a firearm in the car, and threatening to kill himself in front of Evan, he has violated the terms of the custody agreement. As a result, his ex-wife Tina wants him to terminate his parental rights, allowing her new husband to adopt Evan. If Aikens does not agree, she’ll notify the police of the custody agreement violation, and Aikens will be sent to prison. Hothead that he is, Aikens refuses and walks out.

Nick’s office Lulu comes in, and Nick asks about her father. She says he’s gone. Nick offers to go over to her place with her tonight and help her pack “if you still want to do this.” She asks if this means he doesn’t want to do it after all. Nick says no, but if it doesn’t work out, he doesn’t want her to hate him about Berkely.

Lulu’s house Lulu arrives at the house after work. As she enters, she finds her father there. He says that he’s sure this painting business is going to work, and what’s more, he really wants her to be a part of it, wants her to get a little money set aside so she can have her independence from Nick. When she asks what he means, he explains that “You shouldn’t have to jump every time Nick snaps his fingers. You don’t need to give yourself away to a guy like that for money.”

He goes on to say that Nick wants to own her. He blames himself for this, saying that he left her with her mother, so she learned everything wrong. Lulu is livid when she hears this, at orders him to get out of her house.

Jakes’ mother’s house Jake is packing a few things, probably for his mother in the hospital. He moves about her bedroom, placing a few things in the bag, straightening the pillows, and then sinks down on the foot of the bed, his face in his hands.
