LSP Burton goes by to see Lulu. He says his client is willing to offer Ralph Longow $10,000. Lulu laughs, saying that doesn’t begin to address the worth of the land. He asks Lulu if she’s ever handled a case like this one before. When she asks why that matters, he tells her that she doesn’t want to go to court on this, as it’s not a case that will win.

Nick’s house, the bedroom Nick (in a singlet) is sitting up at the head of the bed, working on some papers. Lulu (in her camisole pajamas) is stretched out on her stomach, working on papers at the foot of the bed.
Lulu mentions that Burton came to see her today and was rather condescending. Nick is surprised. She asks if Burton mentioned the visit, and Nick says yes. Lulu says that Burton tried to intimidate her to keep her from pursuing the case.
