Wow!! Who was really stalking Lulu? Was it really Nick in the end? Is he trying to get Lulu to need him over Brian. Need him to protect her? Is he going over the edge--obsessed with her. ( I thought Brian was leaving.) Nick knows Lulu wants him but won't give up Brian. So.. is Nick trying to draw Lulu to him by making her need him. She needed him to defend her before the legal review board and he liked that feeling. The feeling of being needed and the warm acceptance of that need. Wow!!
Burton and Nick interaction was great. I liked the interaction with the little boy at the private hearing with the judge. Nick admitting that his own mother said some very mean things about his dad after the divorce. I was surprised he could admit that.
Well we see where Nick gets his compassion-- from his dad.
Do you think Kim is getting the message? I guess they won't be having that conversation on the seriousness of their relationship!

It's hard to believe DH would make Nick into a stalker...that's a character arch Nick would never recover from. But that final scene of Nick sitting in his car watching LuLu was creepy. I've watched it several times now (I really should get a life) and I still can't decide what that look is. Is it his moony eyes for Lulu look, gone to extremes? Is it affection, just making sure she's okay....not giving us his frowny look when he sees Brian because everyone knows Brian is soon to be out of the picture? Or is he going over the edge into obsession? Think I'll watch it another dozen or so times. Maybe I'll figure it out. You've got to love Simon Baker. How many actors could leave you so baffled by a single look?

Simon Baker's ability to express his opinion or question a situation without saying a word is one of TG best features. He is truly a gifted actor.
This whole episode was confusing and seemed to be without merit. It was almose "soap opery" in having NF jumping out of Kim's bed directly to Lulu. If he had put his pants on and had sat on the couch or perhaps not so close to Lulu, the "soap opera" theme would not have been so forthright and the scene would have seemed as more concern and worried about Lulu.
Kim did look nice in her black dress, but she still does not have any chemistry with the show.

TO TRISHA:
I THINK THE FINAL SCENE OF "YOU BELONG" SHOWED JUST HOW JEALOUS HE IS OF BRIAN, JUST HOW MUCH HE WANTS TO GO INTO THE HOUSE WITH LULU. AS FOR JUST FEELING PROTECTIVE: WE HAVEN'T SEEN HIM FOLLOW HER HOME BEFORE, HAVE WE?
THAT LAST SCENE HAUNTS ME BECAUSE I COULD IDENTIFY WITH HIM COMPLETELY. IT ALSO SEEMED PERFECTLY IN CHARACTER WITH HIS LOCKED-UP EMOTIONS. BEING A VOYEUR IN A CAR SHOWS HIS NEED TO HIDE HIS FEELINGS; SHOWING THE CAR BEHIND METAL FENCE EMPHASIZES HIS NEED TO HIDE HIS DEEPEST, NEEDIEST NATURE.

Naomi, I agree that the last scene is in character with Nick's pent up emotions. He wants Lulu and Nick is used to getting what he wants. It pains him to see Lulu with the "goose." Why won't Lulu dump the disasterous marriage and run into Nick's opened arms. Now-- Nick's confused! (and so am I). Not to mention how confusing the sequence of events seem to be out of order. Trisha

What an interesting analysis of that final scene. I was really alarmed by it. Nick was so trance like. It almost made me wonder if he was the stalker after all. Still, can you see him taking Lulu's things, hiding them away? Can you see him sneaking up to Lulu's house and breaking in? Can you see him calling her repeatedly and leaving her with silence? It all adds up to something so creepy, I just can't see Nick going there. That is truly mentally disturbing stuff. I see Nick as repressed and at war with himself -- but not sick.

atotal..
If you have the tape of the episode, play it back to the last scene. How distrubing is the expression on Nick's face? If we didn't know this guy truly, if we didn't know he was the main character, but just some minor character in a movie, the expression would reiterate: mental (emotional) health issues. Truly a disturbing look. I wonder what DH had in mind? Did Nick catch it as DH invisioned it?

Hi. Yes, I have this episode on tape and I've watched that scene more times than I care to admit. The reason is because Nick's expression screams out "Stalker!" I even had my daughter watch the episode (she doesn't normally watch TG) and when she saw that scene she told me the guy had serious mental health issues. But how can that be? Not our Nick, surely. I read a post somewhere that suggested maybe the scene was meant to show irony -- that Nick, so busy protecting Lulu from a stalker, is in becoming what he is trying to protect her from as he sits, obsessed, in his car.... I don't know. Maybe Simon Baker just does too good a job at portraying Nick's dark side.

Something else. Regarding the scene in which Lulu is giving Kim names of possible stalkers. At one point, Lulu starts to give another name and then sort of backs off, hesitates, before coming up with the guy at the gym. Do you think the name she was really thinking of was Nick Fallin? I got that feeling. Maybe that poor guy at the gym was added to the list at the last second because Lulu just couldn't bring herself to think that way about Nick.

wow! What an observation! I couldn't think who she would come up with after that interruption in thought. She is never shown with anyone else but the LSoP people and the "goose." The gym guy seemed like an awkward answer. I did think she didn't want to share her thoughts. A very interesting take.

Does anyone know if DH can be E-mailed? I'd like to know if the episode was out of sequence. Also, if Nick captured the intended look he envisioned in the last scene. Was he trying to capture the look of a very disturbed person in the character Nick Fallin? Do you think he would take the time to answer or do you think he would be as evasive as his story line?

Trisha
Instead of e-mailing DH perhaps SB himself would give a more direct answer as he is well know for speaking his mind.
The entire mystery, seeming to be out of sequence epidsode, the story line left eery feelings. Especially the last look of Nick.
If you hear either from DH or SB, let us know what you find out.
SB is an excellent actor and seems to pull off what ever he is required to do to put life and mystery into the character of NF.
