Anne and Burton

Okay, any speculation on this relationship? So far this is what we know. They were married in 1965. Burton was 32 years old, Anne was in her mid-twenties. During their marriage Anne was addicted to pills and had affairs. Burton, on the other hand, was working and founded F & A in 1971. They divorced in 1980.

So what happened? Was Anne already using drugs prior to or early in the marriage? Was Burton a workaholic who ignored her? Why didn't they have more children during their 25 year marriage?

Was the flirtation between Burton and a teenaged Liz happen the way Burton remembered it or the way Liz remembered it? Did that contribute to the marriage breakdown?

Speculate, speculate, speculate!

How do we know Burton and Anne were married in 1965 and divorced in 1980 ?   I must have missed that one .. :bawling:

We know they divorced when Nick was 11, which would have been 1980. But I don't remember them ever saying when the two were married.

I believe the info on the marriage & divorce came out in one of the last few episodes, while Burton was being questioned by the judgeship nominating/appointment committee.

I think Anne & Burton were very much in love, but their marriage took a back seat when BF started the firm in 1971.

Anne was probably busy with baby Nick :littleangel: *awe* so cute to think of... then after he got older he didn't need her constant attention, especially when he started school.

In the 70's doctors perscribed valium like it was candy, so she probably took that to feel good about herself and her situation :bawling:  How sad.

You can't tell, but my keying in this post is nothing short of miraculous -- since I have a 14 lb. cat on my lap who keeps getting in the way   ;D  She is also growling at another cat who is in the room... sheesh!
