Burton puts the boot in? Not good. And this is definitely in violation of Nick's probation. Arrhhh

The episode title said it all
What a group of people that are just on the edge of falling over into neverneverland.
Perhaps it is good that Lulu will not be on for a few episodes. Her work in California may open her eyes and mind to what she had. Such a spoiled little girl.
Burton's actions at the end of the show were a complete surprise. I am not surprised that Nick tried to help his dad, but the kicking was what got me. Next year should contain some episodes with interesting results.
Nick has been building up to this outburst for quite some time - even therapy will not cure this. He is in for a great shock next season perhaps.
Hope James survives as he is a a fun actor to watch and full of talent.
As usual, Lori was her natural self. Wish she would be in more of the episodes.
Thats all for now. The episode was total rage from front to end.

Here's one thing that bothered me about LuLu in this episode:
I always felt she took the California interview, at least in part, because she was ticked off at Nick for not telling her how he felt about her. Then when he finally does tell her in this episode, she asks if he's just saying the "L" word because she might go to California! What a contradiction. She goes to California to force his hand and now she doesn't know if he really means what he says or if he's saying it because she forced his hand.
I don't mean this as an attack on LuLu -- don't hate me!!! She was obviously very mixed up this episode and, of course, Nick doesn't make anything easy.

LuLu lost it..........Nick showed the most of his feelings, and even though he struggled with the words........he did say: "I LOVE YOU!" All LuLu had to do was responding with a kiss!!! The girl needs therapy and/or some more wine!!! There was a lot of rage - very sad. I found the last scene with Burton and Nick beating up the guy in the parking garage - and leaving him behind; the two Fallins in the get-away-car; Nick staring in pure angst at the closer coming Taleek, and the nervous smoking Burton - the most chilling and sad ending of the whole season!... ... Even the music score was sad at the end.........very dramatic! Lots of unfinished business, though, to resume next season. ;D

Hi guys. This was a very shocking episode on so many levels. I'm still mulling it all over. You've all made many good points. Totaltotal---Lulu's reaction to N's confession was certainly baffling, but I have to remind myself, in Lulu's defence, that N and she have not talked about the advice that he received from the shrink. She doesn't know that, in finally talking about how he feels, he's actually trying to apply the advice.--- If only the two of them would learn to talk about things to one another their lives and relationship would run much more smoothly.--- As it is, Lulu was a lot readier to hear that kind of confession on at least two, more romantic-in bed type, occasions. So when it finally came out in conjunction with her new job offer she suspects that N's trying to use the 'L' word to manupilate her into turning the job down. --- ARGGGGH! They are the most frustating couple on tv. And, as if the N & L situation weren't bad enough, we now have darling James, and the new guy, I'll call him 'Merry Sun-shine', dead or badly injured.(James' character is so appealing, but he should have kept his mouth shut about what he did to that kid! What good did confessing do?)Now the kid will never get his son and there are two murder charges, besides, that he's facing. Of course, the Shannon and Burton thing was never going to work out and it was a dead certain cinch that, sooner or later, Shannon was going to use the sex abuse ploy.(Guess we all know now why the new, sleazy-oid, criminal lawyer was brought into the firm recently. Both of the Fallins are gona need him, big time!) But the storyline leading up to the end gave us an opportunity to see the loving-dad side of Burton and DC was simply wonderful playing that part. He's a darling, too. But what was most shocking of all was that brutal road (garage?) rage beating our F & F team inflicted upon the hapless victim.----Are these two out of control, or what??? How will they ever finagle out of this scrape???And we have the whole summer to wonder that, don't we??Will both Fallins start next season in new suits of jail-house orange??? ----As they say on tv: TO BE CONTINUED The show's writer, has certainly penned more than a cliff-like cliff hanger, this ending is like hanging out of a plane about 10 miles up. cloud9

...I know that what Lulu did to Nick, or is almost general opinion did, is quite painful, maybe selfish or mean. But I love Nick, that´s why I watch this show....and I can´t believe he did that.....I´m such a non violent person that even when I havent seen it I feel sick (I guess many of us are sick with that...). And I can´t believe DH would pretend it wasnt that serious next season. It is. He must be punished, no matter what happened with Lulu, the love declaration, the therapy, shannon and burton and any other thing you´d like to add.....I just can´t cope with this idea and I dont figure where is this leading....I´m not sure I love this show anymore.....I love Nick, and he is a tortured guy....but tonight I´m sad and disappointed. Other thought: doesnt anybody think that DH was very smart having burton and nick wearing tuxedos :thud: while beating up the guy?....It added a lot of drama to the scene....and to me, some of the darkness of a forties´black movie....

You're absolutely right : it colored the scene, and I think your 1940's movie is a good way to describe it. I hope, though, that this tux fight won't spoil your love of tuxedos.

Not at all, Lambertoise..... ::)but forget about nickinatux:thud:in your fic as a request...would you please? ....for some days it´ll remind me of that scene and your fic is too good to be spoilt with such a remembrance!

Hey, totaltotal, I´m not standing for Lulu (not tonight, not until I watch the episode at least...) but imo you ask and answer....: "I always felt...."....she never said it...you felt it.....

Someone said this before, and i totally agree, she just can`t expected him to tell how he feels if she doesn`t know what she feels or worst she is nt prepared to say it.... I think she pushed him and then when he said the words she got scared.... My poor baby, I told she was going to hurt him...

I have to agree with the general opinion of you guys. I think Lulu was quite insensitive and inconsistent with her response to Nick. Then again... if you think about it, she has never really been very outspoken with how she feels- Nick tends to be more so, believe it or not! We all know that Nick is emotionally shut down, all the more justification that what he said to Lulu was true-how could Lulu not see that? As for the fighting scene... I think the Fallins had a lot of pent up rage and the poor guy got it all. Really lookng forward to season three with the hope that Lulu will do some serious thinking and Nick won't take her reaction too hard and close down again.

I think he has been very good with LuLu after all she said to him a lot of times not very gentle things, like he was a mupet or so when they kissed, teflon man... thanks god she is sensitive and she gets very attached with people, god I can`t imaging how she would tried him if she wasn`t.... ;D

I think Nick and Burton will wiggle out of the battle of the parking garage--it's the word of two (sort of) respected members of the bar against the scruffy guy. Burton can claim self-defense and Nick can claim he was coming to the aid of his elderly father, who he felt was in danger. The only problem might arise from one or the other having a Jamesian conscience attack and I'd be careful about putting money on that.
I woudl't hesitate to bet that Shannon has pulled a similar stunt on other men before and it's not surprising, considering her mother and grandmother. I think she also had an idealized image of her father in mind and when he showed up she was ready to take him, however she found him. Nick is right--she's a street kid and unlikely to change. I hope we've seen the last of her. She really wasn't good for Burton and he can't mend his relationship with Nick if he's concentrating on someone else. In this case, I don't think he was going to learn how to relate better to Nick through interacting with Shannon. He started setting himself up for what happened when he sat on the bed with her in "No Good Deed" asnd I said so at the time. BTW, Shannon occupied Nick's old bedroom, which reveals much about the new world Burton was trying to create. Let's hope he learned a few things about who really belongs in his life.
