OH! MY, MY! As soon as we saw Nick hiding the book My wife is having a baby, we knew that he wanted to be a father. Wasn’t it a great moment, when Jake helped Lulu to understand what pregnancy is fundamentally about : it is becoming a mom and making your lover a dad. I agree with Jake’s assessment of Nick’s capacities : he would do a solid dad. The scenes with Nick and his new young clients indicated how much he has learned to develop a bond with children and that he has a knack for interacting with them.
IMO, Lulu’s fast change of mind is easy to understand. Deep down, she wants the baby but she also wants to make sure Nick wants it as much as she does and she needed some reassurance that he will stay with her not only for the next weeks but for the long ride.
Now, Suzanne. Many people guessed something would happen through her to add some turmoil on L&N’s relationship. Why did Nick give in so easily – and clearly participate as much - to the passionate kiss? Probably because he felt rejected by Lulu and needed some comfort. Maybe also because before making a big commitment, he needed to explore a little more. But I think he was himself wondering Why? Why did I do that? while being kissed by his beloved Lulu? He knows that SHE is the one he wants, despite everything.
Just a last word about Alvin: I don’t know if it is a coincidence, but I thought that his lady last night looked a lot like the one who had a massage parlor last year. I mean physically mostly but also, psychologically. Anyway, I still have a hard time with Alvin…<br> Finally, the scenes between Burton and Nick made us see that Nick is coming to terms with his father. That he was able to tell him I love you, looking at him, was a tremendous step forward and a very moving moment.

i completely agree with you! I am not one of the more chatty ones on this board ( i have only posted once) but i think last nights ep is worthy of discussion (not that all the others haven't been) but i thought last night's ep was wonderful. being from PA i have a few minor "isues" with stuff that is said and where they consider places "Close" to but i think it is one of the best shows on tv. that aside, i got a little misty when Nick told Burton he loved him....and looked him in the eye when he said so....i never get real emotional about shows but wow...and I definitely agree that Nick was wondering what the hell he had done when he was in bed with Lulu...i felt like he was cautious to join her in bed cause he was feeling guilty about what had just happened. I think it was a big sign to see Nick with the book and also how he was much more natural with the two little kids in the ep. That little girl was precious and i felt like Nick was having those first little inklings of "I wonder what my kid will be like?" i wish Lulu had seen him reading the book becasue she would have been more sure about where he stood, but i also really think that Nick needs to find some kind of middle ground with Lulu where he can convey how he feels about things better to her. I think it is really really sad to watch how difficult it is for nick to express how he feels (and kudos btw to Simon Baker for his performance as Nick so far on this show, he does a wonderful job). I can't wait to see how all this goes, and as the spoilers i have read so far.... S P O I L E R S that nick has yet another drug relapse, i am interested to see how this will effect his and Lulu's relationship and whether she can forgive him....in any case...it's gonna be a wild ride....

What blew me away about the Nick-Burton scene was that Burton said "I love you, son" to Nick first. He finally got around to replying to Nick's phone message in "The Beginning" in Season 1! The way Nick lowered his head a little and looked sideways as he said, "I love you, too, Dad," was incredibly moving. DG and SB deserve Emmys for that scene.

DG and SB deserve Emmys for that scene. You are so right. I can't believe how underestimated this cast is by all the Emmy jurys of the world! Last year, only F. Fawcett got a nomination. All the actors are excellent, including the children who are great and natural everytime. Simon Baker, Coleman, Moniz and Barge are always believable, even with the few discrepancies like in this episode. Take this baby thing. What was using Lulu for contraception if now wasn't a good time to have a baby? If she wasn't on the pill, or didn't have an I.U.D. (?), did she ask Nick to use one of these condoms she's been so generously distributing in the gay club? I guess Nick would have complied if she'd asked. We didn't get to know about it, not that it matters that much, but it would have been a plus to understand Lulu's hesitations. But what the heck, I loved every minute of this episode who gave us a lot to think and dream about...

yeah, i was watching the episode with a little cruel irony..lol...here is Lulu prancing about with bags o' condoms and advocating for them whe.....clearly birth control/protection was not an issue in her own relationship...lol..but who cares i love all these characters, baggage and all. And call me crazy but i believed nick when he told Lulu he was sure he is ready to be a father. As hard as words are for him to come by most of the time, he seems to have been able to say exactly what he needed to in that respect, now with the whole possibilty being presented in the next few eps with him possibly slipping with drugs again...i am scared to see what Lulu might do seeing that he can't stay off drugs even for their child...but....yeah, man i love this show. It sure the hell doesn't pull punhces..lol. I think it is the most honest, most true to real life show on television right now.

Hey all! corristory here well it's a surreal pleasure to be with people who love and watch The Guardian on Tuesday evenings at 8pm on CBS. I love Nick Fallin he's so hot and sexy underneath those shirts he wears and Lulu is a godess, Nick & Lulu together 4-ever. i have been a fan of the show since 2001, at first i hated it i thought it was going to boring and tedious but it rocks you got work, cool lawyers, making love, cases if i was on tg I be a client falling for Nick just in case he was being with Lulu anymore but i'm kind of shy i never been on tv before. It takes bravered and courage to be on tv. but one day i may try and be on tg just to meet Simon Baker and the rest of the cast. see ya soon!-corristory loves nick, burton, lulu and alvin-but not jake-blah!
