When you’re weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I’m on your side. When times get rough
And friends just can’t be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down. (Simon and Garfunkel)
Who gave Nick the comfort he needed after two shocks, his father’s heart condition and the negation of his own abilities to seal the Onyx deal?
Clearly, Suzanne Pell was willing to give him the comfort he wanted, maybe not the one he needed. I was disappointed to see Lulu’s lack of empathy – yes, she was in the hospital's waiting room, but why didn’t she touch Nick ( I would have from my seat last night…) to show him more support? But nothing got me madder than Pell’s conduct.
( … ) (Here, I am silently cussing) She is a social worker dealing everyday with children from troubled homes. And now, she gets busy messing with a man who she must know is involved with Lulu, even if she doesn’t know about Lulu’s pregnancy. She knows she is keeping him from Lulu and she should have sent him back home. And Nick should have gone. And what about the 3 o'clock phone call?
Last night, Nick was so much of the kid he is deep down. Anxious about his father – that’s why he didn’t want Shannon’s worries to deal with – he wasn’t able to put his mind in a house transaction. Then the client rejects him, not the firm, him, Nick Fallin who thought he could do it! That was a real nasty blow and Lulu - had their relationship been more open – should have felt Nick’s feelings. The house business was like a pimple in the face. So much was going around, did Nick need that at that moment? Was there any hurry for Lulu? And I agree with Nick : there is some inconsistency with Lulu agreeing to commit for a 30 years mortgage without committing to the man who is her child’s father. But we already know Lulu isn’t very good either at understanding people’s feelings, including hers. In answer to that, Nick just dismissed her as a potential co-buyer and went by himself to become the sole owner of the house. So there will be no financial problems when the split will happen ... Just emotional problems he will deny having!
Last year’s last episode before Christmas was No Good Deed that finished with a promising smile from Nick and the mystery scene behind the door… Like the roller coaster TG is, we had some peace with the last episodes, but from now on, we can guess our mood will go downhill fast. The worst is to come and I dread it.
