When a guy gives some flowers to a woman, it’s usually because :
- it’s her anniversary
- Valentine’s Day
- or Mother’s Day.
Does Lulu knows how lucky she is to receive these lilies, just like that, just to please her? I think she does and that her acceptance of the flowers, with only kind words for Nick, proved that she begins to forgive him. She doesn’t trust him to be there for the long run yet, but when Nick promised he will stick whatever she tells him, I think she began to see that he meant it…. This was another mending step.
Another thing Nick seemed to have understood about Lulu is how defensive she gets when she isn’t sure about the other person’s intentions. For example, when he told her he accepted that she’d be sole trustee but wanted joint physical custody, she thought it was war again. But Nick explained himself and disarmed her instantly.
In this episode, they were on a new beginning, like after a big crash, where both have been hurt. They could have gone separately, but the baby’s vulnerability draws them together. And Lulu’s showing was certainly helping…<br>
The opening scene with another seedy motel annoyed me because, of course, it reminded me of the SPELL whom we got to see again, unfortunately. Jake’s sad adventure didn’t interest me that much even if I like that thread and its basis. I probably got sidetracked when Jake went to buy a gun, a decision I cannot even begin to understand. But RS did a good job and is very credible in this character who doesn’t dare to go out of the closet.
This ep. was all about mending again...Burton urging Jake to mend his ways – but not what he is - and Nick and Lulu starting to mend theirs. Nice.
P.S. Anybody thought the actor who played the teenager’s father looked a lot like another father in Lawyers, Guns and Money (Season 1), the ex-convict who kidnapped his daughter for one day?
