The eye hospital Nick has taken Burton for his checkup. The doctor takes the eye shield off, examines the eye, and says it looks good. He tells Burton he can leave the shield off, but he can’t return to work until next week, that he needs to stay home, rest, and use the drops.

Burton tells Nick that he’s worried because he feels that Nick is too isolated, that he has no friends. Nick becomes furious and replies that Burton should take a good look at himself. He says “I open my house to you and you scrutinize me. Have you taken a look at yourself? All you’ve done this week is sit on your ass and smoke your cigarettes and figure out my problems.”<br> Burton becomes angry and starts to walk off, refusing Nick’s offer of a ride, saying he’ll walk.

The Incline As Nick prepares to enter, Alvin comes out. He tells Nick that he was just inside apologizing to Jerry (Nick says he didn’t ask). Alvin goes on, trying to explain and apologize, while Nick gives him the cold shoulder, just saying “I didn’t ask.” He does, however, ask if James is inside. When Alvin says no, Nick turns around and takes off running.

LSP, the next morning Nick enters the office. Alvin is again at work. James is at work, his knuckles bruised and swollen. Nick goes over and asks him why he showed him the list if he was going to do it all along. James doesn’t answer, just ushers some clients into his office. Nick is left standing in the middle of the busy office, alone in a sea of bustle. He turns and walks to his office.

So Nick had the worse week of his life... ended up not liking his father and being alone...
Permission to feel sorry for Nick? *hopefully*

My husband and I enjoyed this episode with its wide swing or emotions and situations. The story line of James and Levy was very well done and unfortunately, the ending will not allow us to further watch James and Levy grow and develop. This story line also gave more insight into James' past history and his involvement with the "wrong side" of life and his juvenile problems. No wonder James could understand that working out Levy's frustrations by boxing.
Alvin's behavior was most interesting. He really fell off the wagon and showed that even though a person menas well (in this case, calling in social services) can back fire and perhaps a person such as Alvin does not have all the answers and can make matters worse. No wonder he went off the deep end.
Loved the conflicts between BF and NF. Since BF was having glaucoma problems in his left eye and had lazer surgery in the right eye, and Jake commented on his inability to read BF's comments, perhaps the real burden for loosing the client layed with BF, but his pride would not allow him to accept responsibility and therefore lost F&F a client. He certainly was not a good patient for NF and when not in complete control, obviously could not handle the situation.
NF obviously does not keep his refrigerator stock with food. He also has a "home" that is sparse of furniture and everything was too neat. Wonder if Lulu would be neat enough to life his type of sterile life. Wonder if he lives in his home or hides there?
This episode definitely showed the many side of NF and I really like the conflict at the end. Hope to see more of this in the future.
Lulu and NF were very professional, but it seemed as though Lulu did have a calming affect on NF as he was striving to help everyone out and solve everyone's problems. No wonder he fell asleep at the conference table.
Hope this is a sign of future things to come with conflicts, hopes with Lulu, trying to stay clean and having to face situations that would change that in a minute.
Look forward to December 10th episode.

So, Hales - what did you think? Wasn't The Dark the best episode ever?
I've watched it so many times now and I'm still totally engrossed by it. It doesn't get better than this.
