In the office, Nick tells the Reverend that his developers are offering $2.5 million. The Reverend says no, and Nick stands up and walks out. Lulu turns to the Reverend and asks if they’ll consider an offer over $3 million (I think he says they will). Lulu goes out to talk to Nick.
Scott, meanwhile tells Claire he has some questions about his appearance in court tomorrow . . .

Nick and Lulu are in a nook at the side of the church, kissing. Lulu stops Nick, grins, and says that she’s supposed to be discussing business with him right now. And by the way, how would he like to come over to her place tomorrow night for dinner? Nick agrees, reluctantly, as it’s clear he doesn’t like the idea of going to her place. He tries to kiss her again, but she grins and goes back to talk to the Reverend.

Yep, she was angry all right! Nick doesn't say anything, just walks away . . . Gotta love our boy. Couldn't care less what Claire thinks. Instead of walking out of a room, he was walking into one. |

In a back area, Scott is asking Claire inane questions (should he wear his uniform? Should he bring his wife and kid?) Claire answers him patiently, smiling and trying to put him at ease. Suddenly, Scott lunges towards her and tries to kiss her. Claire pushes him away, looks at him angrily, and flees.

Nick brings James over to talk to Colin about helping him find a place to live.
As he turns to go to his office (closet), Laurie Solt tells him she needs to talk to him. She explains that Burton called her that morning and that he wants to be a foster parent to Shannon Gressler. Nick is a bit surprised, but doesn’t say anything. Laurie goes on, saying she doesn’t know if Burton is up for it, and asks if Nick thinks he can handle being a foster parent, as she doesn’t know what he was like as a father. She also wants to know about how Burton knows Shannon, what his relationship was with Mary. Nick says he thinks they were dating. To try to put Nick at ease, she reminds him that she has to interview family members of prospective foster parents.
Next she asks what kind of a foster parent he thinks Burton will be. Nick, still surprised, just looks at her and says that he thinks his father “can be a wonderful foster parent if he wants to be.”<br>
Laurie: Can be?
Nick: Would be.

Scott and Claire are in a sort of coat-room area (large, however) off the church. It isn't a separate room, per se, as you can clearly see into the main area of the church. But it is a bit private.

Burton’s house
Laurie is there to do the home visit and interview. Burton offers her a drink. Laurie declines, but Burton says he’ll have one. She begins questioning him, his age (69 he says), does he have any habits a child shouldn’t be around? Burton lights up. Laurie pointedly asks questions about how much he drinks and smokes. Burton brushes off these questions with non-committal answers. When Laurie asks if he thinks he can handle having a teenage girl around, he assures her he can. When she asks why he wants to take Shannon in, Burton tells her that he sees a lot of potential in Shannon, and that he enjoys having her around. Laurie cautions Burton that he shouldn’t take Shannon in just because he’s lonely.

Apparently Nick took very good the foster parent thing or not?
