Simon - the pipe smoker?

Does anyone know if Simon is a regular pipe smoker in real life? As he was seen confidentally puffing in "Ride with the Devil" a few years ago, I wonder if this is a regular experience for him. He looks great with a pipe -and he looks all so natural - and, in fact, the briar would be quite in keeping with the gentlemanly demeanor Simon displays on "Guardian."
So, who can answer? Any opinion?

Pipe smoking is surely a pastime best reserved for gentlemen over the age of 60.
