Cheers all -- you've just met the another new fan of CBS's "new" (hey, it's new to me) drama 'The Guardian'. I've only seen 5 episodes in but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why this show is doing so well in it's first season.
I admit when a friend first told me about The Guardian and it's premise I was a little bored. Not being a big fan of CBS or any other show of The Guardian's same genre I was quite turned off. The basic story didn't really seem that fresh either. You've got your hotshot, pigheaded, lawyer and loner who thinks he can do everything on his own with no one's help, who is secretly fighting an addiction to cocaine. He gets caught (shock!) and in his heap of trouble is saved my his own father, who he blames for most of the troubles in his youth. So in the midst of his rescue daddy gets his sentence reduced from jail time to having him look after a bunch of little kids in the courtroom -- that was basically all I could think about while my friend ranted on about what I now know is a great show.
After being told that I "had to" watch it I sat down and watched an episode and was in awe. After actually seeing the cast and getting into the episode ( I was kind of lost because it was end of the season ) I really discovered what my friend had been telling me about. The characters are so believable and something about this show just draws me in so much that when the telephone rings I can't leave my seat to go and pick it up. Forget about the mess in the kitchen or all that dirty laundry THE GUARDIAN IS ON!! But the good thing is now anyone that knows me knows not to call on Tuesday nights at 9 so the hour is pretty quiet except for when I talk to my TV...you all do it, I know. But I cannot get over just how incredible this show is! Nick Fallin is such a hatable guy but then you see something that really makes you love him. He's not the All-American hunk, hero, doo-gooder lawyer who always knows what to do and always has the answers when you're in a jam but he's not this evil person who only cares about himself and how much money he can make but at the same time he sometimes is each and everyone one of those things. Depending on what is going on you do see some of these characteristics in different shades of Nick Fallin. He is just such a complex character who takes an extraordinary actor to play -- SIMON BAKER does the best job -- no one on earth could play Nick the way the he does!!
But now that I am ranting I will go on and beg for help from all you loyal SIMON BAKER/Guardian fans. I have missed so many great episodes and was wondering if any kind soul would be nice enough to copy their tapes of the season and send them to me. I'll be happy to pay shipping and handling and whatever else so long as I can be enlightened with new episodes of this incredible show! If anyone would like to help please e-mail me at Cheerios4all@yahoo.com. Cheers,
~Mandy
