I just found this great site !!! I really like this show and of course Simon Baker. I was wondering if someone could tell me what happened on the very first episode of The Guardian? I found this show about 3 shows after it premiered. Thanks for your help.

Hello and Welcome "Soccermom" I didn't see the premier either, but a really nice TG fan has sent me a copy, which I hope to get any day now. ;D If you look in this folder you'll find her under "Guardian Tapes" Also there are lots of "discussions" in the older pages of the site. Our esteemed Admin / Moderator Droopy will point you to the right place Hope you enjoy the site! It will help you through the long Nick-less summer!

Here goes .. It's not a review, just a summary, with lots of detail, hehe. ;D
The episode opens with Judge Stanton reading out Nick's sentence : Three years probations, a $10,000 fine (at which Nick smirks a little) and 1500 hours community service .. working at Children's Legal Services as a child advocate.
Then we see little Hunter walking to school, with blood smeared all over his T-shirt ..
Next scene at Children's Legal Services, and Alvin is showing Nick around the offices, introducing him to a few things. Nick looks very detached, as though he couldn't care less, and after 39 minutes .. asks Alvin to "mark him for an hour". ;D
Then we see Little Hunter yet again, on his way to school, his teacher notices the blood on his T-shirt and starts panicking. Poor Hunter is still in shock.
The next morning (??) at the courthouse, James is giving Nick a little orientation type thang, but Nick is hardly paying attention. He's trying to hurry it up, because he has a meeting to get to at F&A. Finally, he tells James that he needs to "take a leak" and will meet up with him later. Then Laurie shows up, and gives Nick his first CLS client -- Hunter Reed.
Nick and Laurie get into a little argument about umm .. clothes. Mostly about Nick's "uniform" and Laurie "looking like crap". Then Nick's tries to talk to Hunter for a little while, asking him a few questions, but Hunter doesn't say a word.
They enter the courtroom, and the Social Services (??) advocate mentions that this is a guardianship hearing for Hunter Reed, whose father has just killed his mother ...
This obviously comes as a shock to Nick, who decides that he can't deal with this right now, and walks out of the courtroom, with Laurie shouting and running after him ..
To be continued ..

Laurie follows Nick along the street, telling him that she didn't know about Hunter's father killing his mother, and the next court hearing will be on Friday, and he'd better BE there or he'll be in contempt of court .. Nick then enters F&A where he finds two officers waiting for him, and has to pee into the cup. He is so stressed, we have NO idea. He is also late for a meeting with SwanTech. Burton and Jake are already there. Nick sort of messes up at the meeting, not having had a response from Netburg (??) yet .. which they need to close the deal, and not having obtained permission from the County Commissioner, for whatever SwanTech plans to set up in Pittsburgh. The SwanTech Associates walk away pissed off and Burton says "Nicholas, my office.." He gives Nick a little lecture about messing around with the SwanTech deal, being 45 minutes late, and then he tells him to take care of things. So Nick gets to work, and manages to get the contract approved by the County Commissioner (wasn't too difficult, either). Next scene, Nick walking into Alleghany Children's Shelter to talk to Little Hunter, who is a little more responsive this time. Nick tells Hunter that his mother died when he (Nick) was around Hunter's age. Hunter also sniffles a little bit. To be continued ..

Droopy, thanks so much for doing this. I know that you are not through, but I really appreciate it. I hope that they re-run this episode it sounds like it was really good. If it wasn't for Simon Baker, I would not need to see it, cuz you have done an amazing job of describing the episode.

Have you seen the episode 'Loyalties'? In it Larry Hines is the F&A partner who leaves F&A for Kirk & McGee, taking a whole lot of associates and clients with him. For a short run down on the episode try: www.geocities.com/simonsphere/guardianep1-10.html(one of Iconic Soups highly recommended reviews on SimonSphere.com). He also asks Amanda (Nick's associate) to join him. When Amanda tells Nick this, Nick tells her bluntly that the only reason Larry asked her is because he wants to have his wicked way with her. Amanda is hugely insulted by this and storms off, not believing Nick. She later discovers that Nick was telling the unvarnished truth. Well, anyway the way Nick warns her about Larry is to say (and I've looked everywhere for the quote but can't find it so you will have to bear with me) something like, "Larry Hines has mounted every soccer mom and secretary ... " (Could someone please help me with the quote - its a good one)
