305 Shame
F&F Sadie Harper is heard (and seen off to the side) talking to a client about his rape case. Nick approaches, walks by, enters Burton’s office.
Burton is meeting with a representative from the bank. The man they usually do business with is retiring, and this guy is taking his place. Burton introduces Nick. The man explains that F&F have a loan for $1 million that was due last Tuesday. The bank is no longer willing to wait, they have until Friday to come up with the money. Burton explains that they have a lot of receivables to collect, but the man says they are no longer willing to wait.

He tells Nick about an outing at Oakmont that the Jupiter people have set up and invited them to. He asks if Nick is interested in going, Nick says no, for Jake to have fun.

LSP elevator Nick gets in to find an older man already in the car. As they start their ascent, the man compliments Nick on his suit. Nick thanks him, then turns away. The man comments on how it makes him feel uncomfortable too when people talk to him in elevators.
The doors open, and both men step out, Nick in front. Lulu is standing in the lobby looking at the elevator. As she sees them, she yells out “What the hell are you dong here? Get out!”<br>

Nick goes over to Lulu’s office door. Lulu opens it, sticks her head out, and asks if he’s left. Nick says yes. She opens the door further and explains that Nick has a client in his office, Lucas Farr. Lucas’ two younger brothers were taken by Social Services this morning. Nick asks her quietly who the old guy was, and she says that he was “just her dad.”

LSP, Nick’s office Nick is meeting with Lucas Farr. Lucas explains that both his parents are dead and that he is raising his younger brothers. Nick, reading the report from Social Services, asks why Lucas had locked his brothers in their apartment. Lucas replies that he can’t afford a babysitter, so he locked them in. Nick continues reading, reading aloud that the boys were setting off firecrackers and tossing flaming rolls of toilet paper out the fifth story window.
Lucas says his brother has issues. He also says that Social Services are going to the neighbors, who are saying that he’s like Liberace with men in and out of the apartment. Lucas says it isn’t like that. When Nick asks, Lucas explains that his brothers know he is gay. Lucas is on the defensive now, and says if Nick won’t help him he has a boyfriend who’s a lawyer downtown who will help him. Nick doesn’t say much, but let’s Lucas talk. Lucas decides he’ll keep Nick as his attorney for now.

Nick stops by Lulu’s office on his way out. She tells him that she’s been thinking about seeing if he and his father would be interested in forming a working relationship with the clinic to sponsor some adoption days. She explains that they need a firm to sponsor them, and that these days allow them to finalize 50 adoptions in one day. Nick says he’ll see if Burton is interested.

50 adoptions a day? I'd be amazed if that many adoptions went through in NSW in a year.
