319 Remember
A white house We see through the windows, as if someone is watching the inhabitants. We see a woman in a bathrobe moving around a dining room, her husband, dressed in a suit, getting ready to leave. He goes out the front door, starts down the walk, and is confronted by someone (we see this through that someone’s eyes). He asks if he can help the person, and is shot twice in the chest.

Jake’s apartment The clock radio comes on with the news. It’s talking about another person being shot in the suburbs. Jake stretches, rolls over, and wakes Kate with a kiss. They make small talk, chatting about the country club’s new members party scheduled for that night, which she really doesn’t want to attend. Jake teases her, asking if he should wear his new lavender shirt. She says no, gets out of bed, goes to his closet, picks out a suit, and lays it on the bed. Then she jokingly reminds him to wear his black shoes, not his brown.

LSP Alvin and Nick chat for a moment about his ALS. Alvin and Victoria have gone to some seminars to help them prepare, and after hearing that Alvin will eventually be able to communicate only with his eyebrows, they’ve called off the engagement. After telling Nick this, Alvin quickly changes the subject, telling Nick about a case Laurie is brining over for him. The boy’s name is Andrew Ford, and his father is being accused of molesting the boy. Nick listens, then tells Alvin that if there is anything he can do for them (Alvin and Victoria), he will, but Alvin brushes him off.

Nick comes out of Alvin’s office to see Laurie walk in. She quickly briefs him on the situation: the boy was taken to the hospital after being abused. The father’s shirt was found in the boy’s room with semen stains on it, and the boy has defensive wounds on his forearms and fingers. In addition, someone had recently downloaded kiddy porn on the family computer. Laurie is convinced the father is guilty.

Conference room Nick takes Andrew into the conference room. Andrew claims that he can’t remember what happened that night, even though he told the police a little bit at the time. He claims he doesn’t even remember that.

Lulu’s office Lulu is offering Emily Burnsley a job. Emily turns it down, pointing out that with Alvin sick, Lulu facing maternity leave, a shortage of attorneys and an almost non-existent volunteer program, the organization is set up to fail. Lulu finally persuades her to try it for a week.

Out in the main area, Alvin asks Nick about Andrew.
Coming out of her office, Lulu shows Alvin a subpoena they have received from the police requesting the files of some of their clients.
Meanwhile, Emily offers to help Nick with the Ford case, but he turns her down politely.
Alvin throws a fit, saying that they cannot turn over the records. The records requested were for some boys who were all placed at a shelter called White Oak, which was for boys who had been molested. He said this would be breaking their trust.

A newsagent Jake pops in to buy his paper, and makes small talk with the owner, who seems to know him well. He asks if the small selection of flowers on display is all the man has. He then selects a bunch of lavender daisies, saying he’ll take them as well. The owner tells him that if he really likes the girl he should buy his flowers somewhere else, where they have better ones. Jake grins, pays for his paper, and leaves.

Courthouse Alvin is before a judge arguing that he should not have to turn over the records to the police. The police explain to the judge that the men being murdered in the last few weeks are all accused pedophiles. They think that the murderer might be one of a group of boys who were all at White Oak at a certain time. One former resident has told them that he remembers a boy talking about how he’d like to kill the people who had molested each of them. Unfortunately, the man can’t remember the other boy’s name at this point, which is why they want the records.
The judge decides that Alvin must turn over the records, but to her, not the police. She will look over them first, deciding what the police should see.

In another courtroom, Nick and Andrew Ford are attending Andrew’s shelter hearing. While Andrew just wants to return home, Nick recommends to the judge that either the father, Brandon Ford, be removed from the home and supervised visitation set up, or that Andrew be placed in foster care. The judge rules in favor of foster care.

Hallway Outside the courtroom immediately after, we see Nick and Andrew head down the hall. It’s as if we’re viewing this through someone’s eyes. The person turns then towards Brandon Ford and his wife, who are despondently leaning against the wall. Ford asks what the person wants.

LSP Nick is getting coffee, asks Emily if she’d like some. She thanks him, saying she doesn’t use caffeine. Just then Laurie comes in and says that the evidence against Brandon Ford has been thrown out, so the prosecutors now want Andrew to testify at his dad’s hearing. If he doesn’t, they’ll toss the case.

In Lulu’s office, Alvin explains why the police want the files. He is still upset and wants to refuse.
Before she can say anything, Nick comes in. He explains the situation with Andrew Ford. Lulu asks if Nick thinks the father guilty, and he replies yes.
Alvin interrupts, saying he will only turn over the files if Lulu orders him to do so. She does, and he leaves.
As she settles back, she lets out a small “Oh!” Nick, concerned, asks if anything’s wrong. She smiles, says no, that the baby just moved.

As Alvin opens the first file and looks at the photo of the boy, it’s as if the photo comes alive and the boy is giving his testimony again. In reality, Alvin is going one by one to the now-grown men’s houses to talk to them, let them know that he had to turn the files over to the police.
