The first he goes to see is John. John was molested by his uncle. He’s moved on with life and now has a wife and child, but he’s willing to talk to the police to help them. As he leaves, Alvin apologizes profusely for intruding.

Next he goes to see Charles, the former professional athlete. Charles never told anyone (his teammates, even his fiancé) about what his stepfather did to him, and is angry that this is popping up again just two weeks before he’s to be married.

The third guy Alvin goes to see is Billy. Billy was so roughly abused by his father that he suffered brain damage. While Billy isn’t the sharpest tack in the box, he is wonderful with his hands and at fixing things. Billy acts a bit vague while Alvin talks to him, like he isn’t aware of what’s been happening. As Alvin leaves, he asks Billy to come by the office the next day to see him, as he has some work building “handicap stuff” that he’d like Billy to do.
As he leaves, the police arrive to question Billy.

Bar Jake is waiting for Kate. She arrives, and he presents her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers as he tells her that due to the latest murder victim being a member of the country club, the club has postponed the new member party. She is relieved, and suggests they get something to go and head back to his place.

In Alvin’s office, Alvin explains that he will need lower bookcases and file cabinets. Billy says he can lower the light switches so they’ll be easier to reach as well, and Alvin agrees. As Billy starts to work, Alvin asks him about what the police asked him, and Billy says mostly about how his dad died. He says his dad was stabbed about twelve times, and they never found the killer.

LSP Charles comes looking for his file. Alvin apologizes, but explains that they’ve already been turned over to the police. Charles is upset about how his fiancé is going to take it. He says if this becomes public, he’ll sue Alvin. He gets up, says bye to Billy, and leaves.

Billy has been sitting there listening quietly and whittling the whole time. He gets up, goes out to the desk where Emily is sitting, and hands her a rose he just carved.
Minutes later, the police arrive to arrest Billy as they suspect him of the murders. A speechless Emily watches as he is taken out.

LSP Alvin comes in to find Emily looking at Billy’s file. He takes it away from her, telling her it isn’t any of her business. His temper quickly cools when Emily asks how Billy is, and if Alvin got to see him. He says they wouldn’t let him see Billy, because while he has been Billy’s lawyer in the past, Billy didn’t ask to see him this time, so they wouldn’t let him in. Apparently Billy has confessed to the murders. Emily point-blank asks if Alvin thinks Billy did it, and Alvin says no.

Hearing Herb Connelly is questioning Andrew in great detail, but Andrew claims that he remembers nothing. Connelly even mentions the information that Andrew gave the police that night, but Andrew says he doesn’t remember that either. The judge finally says the charges against Brandon Ford are dismissed.
As they part in the hallway, Nick tells Andrew that he can’t help him anymore unless he wants to be helped, and gives him his card.

Nick walks quickly away and we view the scene through someone’s eyes. They walk over to Brandon Ford, take out a gun, and shoot him twice in the chest. Andrew, watching all this, takes off.
