Wow...what a great episode!! So much happened....where to begin? I guess at the very beginning. Nick reported the shooting at the strip club to the police (I think at the urging of his lawyer who was present at the police station). So the question now is whether this preemptive move by Nick has saved his ass from further trouble on this. The police are investigating and as the cop who interviewed Nick said: "So everyone who can corroborate your story is either dead or missing." But at least they didn't arrest Nick for a parole violation.
Burton told Nick that he wanted him to take over the firm if he gets the position on the bench, and set Nick up to take over some of his biggest clients. Jake came to Nick and offered himself as Nick's "number two guy" since as Jake put it: "Nick...your people skills suck!" Nick blew him off at first but....the first big client that Burton handed over to Nick presented some problems for our boy Nick. Nick blew the deal because he wasn't aware of the personal nuances of the deal. Jake was later on able to negotiate a deal the client was happy with. Nick is a great lawyer, but he rarely can see below the surface of things This debacle lead Burton to reconsider his earlier decision to hand over the reins of the firm to Nick. Looks like Nick will be left out in the cold! .
Meanwhile...things are really heating up between Nick and Lulu! They discovered the teenage couple giving birth in the house Lulu was considering buying with the sap Brian. The case really drew them together. The way that Nick looks at Lulu really betrays his true feeling for her (even if he doesn't completely understand what it is he is feeling). All of this lead to the hottest scene of the season! Nick and Lulu in the house alone. Lulu was forced to confront her ambivalence over Brian and the marriage (because of the case with the teenagers), and she confessed this to Nick. Nick (following his heart for a change) reached out to Lulu, caressing her cheek and then moved in for a really tentative kiss. Lulu responded and he went for it big time. They likely would have made love right there on the floor had Brian not interrupted their moment! Brian didn't see them kissing and Nick quickly left the scene. Nick seemed bewildered if not a little pleased at how things developed with Lulu as just the tiniest hint of a smile appeared on his lips. End of show

OMG I'm hyperventilating! Nick and Lulu have started to get it on (or off, or whatever). Not surprising, if you have seen the clip - what woman with a pulse would have resisted that! Did they actually start tearing at each other's clothes or were they interrupted too soon - need more information - pant pant
I'm glad that Nick isn't going to take over the firm. I've voiced my opinion (as I am wont to do) elsewhere on this subject. He is already working two demanding jobs - he doesn't need more pressure. What he needs is to Get A Life (on which subject there has been much recent discussion on SimonBakerOnline).
So Jake told him his people skills suck? Nevermind - he can practice on me ;D ;D ;D
And Nick did the right thing and went to the Police about the shooting - phew - that's what I would have recommended - saves him looking shifty when (and I mean when) they linked him to the case.

 Oh my goodness!!
This is going to take a little bit of time to ruminate on before I can write it up! The spoiler at the top of this thread just does not do this episode justice!
My friends, you are going to love this ep! The body of the ep is good, but the end, well, the end is just, just--I'm almost at a loss for words!
And to think I get to watch the whole thing again in 25 minutes!

This is a first--writing up an episode while watching it! Here goes . . .
The ep opens with Nick in the police station. His lawyer is present, as is a detective. He's explaining the situation at the strip club to the detective, who is understandably sceptical. Nick is clearly uncomfortable, but has regained much of his composure.
And in explanation to the t-shirt, the detective asks for Nick's jacket, shirt and tie.
As they leave the station, Nick's lawyer tells him that he did the absolutely right thing by going to the police. If he had waited, they might have arrested him for a parole violation just for being in the bar.

From the station, Nick heads over to Brian and Lulu's house. Brian meets him as he approaches, and says, "Lulu told me she called you." Lulu is talking to a neighbor. When she has finished, she brings a document over to Nick for him to look at. It seems there is an easement concerning 30 inches at the edge of the property. Lulu tells Nick that she didn't understand a word of it, so he starts to explain it to them. Just then, Lulu glances up at the house and sees a movement in one of the front windows. She tells Nick and Brian as they all head up the steps into the house. Brian, oaf that he is, is yelling "Is there anybody in there? Come out, it's not your house!" (doofus ) Nick asks for the keys and approaches the door--then we cut to a commercial.

She is a lawyer and she doesn't understand easements? Where did she get her law degree - a cornflake packet?

As they enter the house, Lulu shows them which window she saw the movement in. They look around, then hear screams. They open a door, and there stands a young man who says "My girlfriend is having a baby."
The next thing we see, Laurie Solt is coming throught the doors from the delivery room to announce that it was a healthy 6 pound 9 ounce boy.
When Danny, the father, asks when they can take the baby home, Laurie has to tell him that they won't be able to. She explains that since Jeanette, the mother, is only 15 and he is only 16, the baby will be in foster care "for a while", but that they'll be able to see him.
She then states that there will be a shelter hearing regarding the 2 parents the next day.

Nick heads into F&A, where Burton motions him into his office. He then tells Nick that he's decided that if he gets this federal judgeship, he wants Nick to take over the firm. Nick concurs, and says he's ready. Burton then tells him he wants him to start immediately taking more responsibility. He's going to hand some of his big clients over to Nick in preparation.
I'm going to skip the details of that case, other than to say that the client, Wade Meyer, is a jerk and that he won't come right out and say what he wants.
