Burton’s place
Nick stops by to pick up some papers Burton has left for him on his desk. The door is answered by Mary, who is wearing a silver robe over a strappy gown. Nick seemingly ignores her appearance, goes into the office, and retrieves the file.
While Nick is getting the file, Mary is explaining to Nick how she and Burton aren’t really involved. Nick tells her he doesn’t care. Mary says how grateful she is to Burton, and how she would like to get him a gift. She starts naming things she knows he likes—cigarettes, red wine, etc.—all the while slowly moving closer to Nick and letting the robe fall open. Suddenly, Burton comes in the front door, and Mary hurriedly pulls the robe closed. Burton looks a bit surprised, but Nick is cool and collected as ever.

Olsen house
Brian returns from Columbus. He comes in to tell Lulu that he’s been offered the job (it’s in private practice). He notices that Lulu has the slide projector out and is looking at slides, and naturally asks who they’re of. Lulu explains that they’re of the Fallins, that this was the box she mistakenly received. Brian is CLEARLY not happy. He tells Lulu that they want him to start next Monday, and that they’re even providing an apartment to help her with the transition. At this, he looks into Lulu’s face, and realizes that she won’t be going with him. Lulu tells him he should accept the job, and he agrees.

Alvin comes to see Jake. He tells Jake that they have found a bottle of codeine which was prescribed to Jake in Amy’s apartment. Jake explains that that was prescribed for a back injury he has, but Alvin tells him that Amy is claiming that he assaulted her.

F&F, Nick’s office
Jake is there, with the door closed, explaining the latest in his situation. Nick tells him just to let it go, because he can’t win against a woman like that.

The door suddenly opens, and Brian enters with the box of photos. As he turns to go, he turns back and tells Nick that he wants to accept the offer. Nick looks at his watch, says that will be fine, and for Brian to have his lawyer contact him.
Brian starts to tell Nick something about Lulu, but then stops, and leaves instead, leaving the whole issue hanging in the air.

 Whoa........Gin, what happened to the rest of the story? You lost a couple of pages? What about Frank, the sleazy hospital (lawyer I think) telling Burton in the office, (after the final settlement meeting with Brian), that he's taking *sleazy* Mary away for the weekend, and that she is wild, and what he's planning (and hoping) to do with her! And Nick looking on, knowing how she (Mary) was coming on to him just the evening or so before! .......and how Burton goes out to the lobby at Fallin and Fallin where Mary is working the phones, and Burton is asking her if she has a minute,....and,.......and, finally Burton telling Mary in his office that it's not going to work out between them, shakes her hand, and send her on her way !! Hooray for Burton !!

Sam comes in to see Nick. Nick doesn’t recognize him at first, as Sam is not in drag. Sam explains that he’s had the HIV test, and he’s negative, and shows Nick the results.
In the conference room, they present the results to Timmy, and ask him where he wants to live. Timmy is reluctant to answer at first, but finally says that he really wants to live with his uncle, not Sam.

Brian’s lawyer comes in to pick up the paperwork on the settlement. After he leaves, the guy Frank from the hospital comes in. He thanks Nick and Burton for their work. Frank then tells Burton how he likes this hot receptionist he’s got and how he’s asked her out for next week.
Nick simply looks at Burton after Frank leaves, giving him a knowing look. Burton says “What?,” but Nick doesn’t say anything.

Burton leaves the conference room, and goes to the reception area where Mary is working. He asks her if he can talk to her for a minute in his office. When the door is safely closed and they are seated, Burton simply tells Mary that this isn’t working out. Mary agrees, saying it is all her fault, but that she just doesn’t feel anything for Burton. He wishes her luck, they shake hands, and she leaves.

Nick pops in to deliver the correct box, the one containing the law books, explaining that Brian dropped the other one off. Lulu looks surprised at this.
