Nick’s house Nick, wearing a blood-stained shirt, is sitting in the dining room at the table, when Burton rushes in. Someone called him, and he’s come to see if Nick is ok. Nick assures him that he is. Burton is worried and wants to stay the night, but Nick tells him it’s not necessary. He then excuses himself, saying he needs to go change.

Great coverage Gin... and good to see Spunkmungbeans back with input. Burton is being such a gentleman. He's sooo happy having people in his empty house, that he's lit up like a Christmas tree.

Burton’s place Burton is working in the living room, when he hears Shannon cry out for him. He goes into Nick’s old room, where she is sitting up in bed and upset. She’s had a nightmare in which her mother is there. Burton reassures her, and agrees to sit there with her until she sleeps.

F&F Lulu comes in to see Nick. She explains that Tuggle and his Brain Institute have reported her to the disciplinary committee. Nick offers to represent her, but she refuses, saying that she merely wanted the name of the guy who had represented Nick when he went before the committee.

The Hospital Jesse has just come out of surgery. The doctor explains that the bullet shattered his sinus and that there are going to be a series of operations following this one. When Nick asks, the doctor has to tell him that Jesse has sustained brain damage which will affect his speech and motor skills, as well as his cognitive ability.
Nick doesn’t want to go into Jesse’s room, but the doctor persuades him to do so, telling him that what Jesse needs around him right now is a friendly face.
In the room, Nick thanks the unconscious Jesse for what he did, but saying he wished that Jesse hadn’t, under the circumstances.

Oh - did he go before the committee because of his drug charges? We were never told that - but it does make sense.

LSP Nick shows up to talk to Lulu. He explains that he contacted the person who represented him when he went before the committee, and unfortunately the man isn’t available for the next month. Lulu tells him that she’s been doing some research, and it doesn’t look good, as there has been precedence in other states.
Nick offers again to represent her.

So Jesse ends up like the De Boege father. That is so ironic and sad.
I suppose he will end up a client of 'Tuggle and the Brain Institute'. (sorry small things amuse small minds).

I'm not sure, Spunky. I can't remember if he had to go before them for some other reason. . .

Burton’s place, the study Mary comes in from work, and asks Burton how Nick is. Burton’s been sitting on the sofa reading the paper. He explains that Nick is a big boy, and he’s tough. He says that even as a child, Nick was tough. Even then, if you offered him help, Nick would find a way to refuse it.
Mary is clearly exhausted from work, so Burton persuades her to have a seat on the sofa and proceeds to giver her a shoulder massage. Mary isn’t really comfortable with this, but allows him to do so.
Mary says that Mandy was that way too, always rejecting help. She says the secret is to help them without ever letting them know you’re helping them.
Burton tells Mary that she deserves to be taken care of.

LSP Nick and Lulu are in her office, working on her defense. Nick explains how he wants to present it, but Lulu argues against his ideas, feeling that he’s too emotional, and that this issue isn’t something personal. Nick looks her in the eye :thud:, and says it is personal. “Lulu, there were a half dozen other lawyers in the room. We all wish we could lie as well as you did,” referring to her actions with DeBord.

F&F Burton arrives in the office. The insurance representative is waiting for him. He gives Burton a document for Mary to sign. With this, they agree to pay the entire amount.
