Shall we discuss a few details while waiting for Gin? Or would you prefer to talk later?
Did Lulu close the door upon leaving the room or did she close the door for privacy and stay within the room?

No Good Deed
Recaps from Testimony.
Courtroom The defendant’s attorney is explaining that his client has a brain injury that causes him to be like he is. He explains that under the circumstances, it is unfair to grant the mother’s wish that supervised visits with the children be discontinued.
Nick objects, pointing out that Mr. DeBord threw a glass at his older daughter during the last visit. Another man in the “audience” steps up and interrupts. He explains that his name is Tuggle and that he runs an organization to help people with brain damage, and that Mr. DeBord was not angry at his daughter, just frustrated with the difficulties he had communicating.
The judge decrees that Mr. DeBord’s visitations will be temporarily suspended for six months if he shows improvement, they will be reinstated. His attorney stands up again, and makes a plea that Mr. DeBord be allowed to see his children the next day, as it will be his daughter’s 10th birthday. The judge agrees, on the condition that it will be one hour at LSP with a representative from Social Services present.

That's what Gine and I were just talking about - not sure. We'll just have to wait until Gine rewatches the tape. Dang.
Why do I suspect that it was filmed that way just to keep us guessing. Jeez.

Judge Damsen’s Courtroom Jesse Caputo, a very optimistic seventeen-year old, is petitioning that he remain in the system until he is twenty-one in order that he may go to college. He tells the judge that while he has been in and out of trouble in the past, he has things straightened out now, and he is due to graduate from high school that afternoon.
Judge Damsen says she will give him six months to prove he is on the straight and narrow. If he is able to get a job and save up enough money for one-third of his first semester’s tuition, she will grant his request.

Courthouse Hallway Out in the hall, Mr. DeBord comes up and tries to talk to Nick. Due to his brain injury, he has trouble communicating. Nick tries to get him to leave him alone. He is then joined by very excited Jesse Caputo, who is trying to tell Nick about his graduation exercises that afternoon and get Nick to come. DeBord grabs Nick’s arm (Nick looks ready to lash out at him). Just then, Tuggle comes up and explains that DeBord is just trying to talk to him about his children. Nick finally shakes everyone off, mumbling, “I have another hearing,” and disappears down the hall.

Opening credits
F&F We see Jake in the conference room which is filled with boxes of files. Nick comes in and Jake explains that a client has sent over 3 dozen boxes of files which are not sorted in any manner. Nick asks why Jake doesn’t have the office boy straighten them out, and Jake explains that he fired him because all he did was stand at the copier and run off fliers for the band he was in. Nick says that they’ve got to get some help in. Jake offers to bring in his cousin Rudy. Nick is alarmed at this, asking if this is the cousin who helped out last summer. When Jake says yes, Nick says to give him 24 hours, and he’ll find someone.

LSP Nick returns to the office after the hearings. He finds a small package on his desk, and asks Alvin what it is. Alvin explains that it is a tradition for Legal Services to give their clients who graduate a small gift. When Nick says that he isn’t planning to attend the ceremony, Alvin states that the client’s LSP lawyer always attends. Nick quickly replies that he’s not an LSP lawyer. He finally agrees to go when Alvin says he’ll credit Nick’s community service hours for the ceremony.

Graduation Ceremony Jesse is very excited to see Nick after the ceremony. He is also thrilled with the gift, which is a gift certificate for books. He persuades Nick to take him over to his mom’s apartment so she can see him in his cap and gown. He also tells Nick that when he was younger she promised that if he got into college she would pay for it.
