Okay, the easy one first. It's not the cell phone itself that matters so much, it's the service. The service is being paid for by F&A, and as Nick no longer works there, he is no longer entitled to the use of it.
Car leases are harder to explain, but I'll try. Instead of buying a new car outright, you lease it. You make a downpayment, and you make your monthly car payment, but at the end of the lease period--usually 3 or 5 years--you turn the car back over to the dealer from whence you leased it. Part of the idea is to make the payments less. Another feature of this deal is that if you're into "trendy" cars or getting a new car every couple of years, you turn the one in and get another, newer model.

Then why did he have to hand the cellphone back to Burton ?
And why does he get to keep the car ? Now that he's left F&A ... shouldn't he have to give it back ? :bawling:

I think he figures K&M will provide him with another cell phone.
He tells Burton that he'll have the car lease transfered into his name--therefore he gets to keep the car! 8)

Is he still upset by the end of the episode... or does it actually stop when Burton takes Nick out of the Incline?

It ends as Buton is taking Nick out of the Incline.
By the way, in the Guardian Reference Files it states that Burton drives a Cadillac, which was revealed in In Loco Parentis. ;D

Oh yeah .. and how did Burton manage to chase off the two drunken louts ... seeing that he is only one, rather old, person ..

Well, Burton didn't chase them off by himself--the bar tender was trying to break it up by then as well. Nick is very vulnerable at the end. The alcohol also make him more open with Burton, hence the "I'm such a screwup" line. It was very painful to watch. *GB, quit cheering over Nick in pain! * You just wanted to take him in your arms and comfort him!
