Causality opens with them (Nick, Lulu, James, Alvin, a whole bunch of them from Legal Services) at the Incline to celebrate Alvin's birthday.

Alvin is decidedly drunk, the whole group is rather *happy*, and Nick is a bit sloshed himself. Lulu isn't too far gone, but isn't sober either. :beer:

Anyway, everyone else leaves, and Nick and Lulu are left alone in the booth where they were sitting. And Nick starts prattling on about how he had been close to his mother, how beautiful she had been (http://nickfallin.com/images/episodes/111causality/causality215.jpg), and how she had said one thing to him that he would always remember, that she knew he would grow up to treat women better than his father did.
Lulu, of course, replies, "And do you?"
And our ever suave Nick (:nyah:) comes back with, "I don't know. Do you want to find out?"
Lulu, a bit drunk, but ever the responsible girl, tells him that she doesn't think that's a good idea, and leaves to catch a cab. As she is leaving, two drunks sitting up at the bar decide to hit on her, making charming drunken comments, to which she makes some scathing reply.

So, Nick decides it's time to leave. As he's passing the two drunks at the bar, the following transpires (copied from the SimonBakerOnline board):
Nick: Why don't you two ass clowns go home together.
Man #1: Excuse me!!!??
Nick: You heard me.
Man #1: You got a problem?
Nick: Yeah, your breath.
Man #2: Yo Yo Yo Yo...C'mon now. C'mon...You don't wanna do this.
Man #1: I don't want to mess up your suit.
Nick: Suit? You think I care about my suit?
Man #2: Whoa. Whoa. Calm down man.
Nick: I don't give a damn about that. (removes suit jacket)
Man #1: Screw you.
Nick: Why don't you screw your buddy here? (Man #1 punches Nick)
Man #2: C'mon man.
And the brawl begins....
**Note the insinuation of homosexuality. I believe, even after The
Men From the Boys episode, that Nick is still basically a homophobe.
