Moments after Lulu leaves, Burton arrives. He sits down in the darkened kitchen with Nick and tries to talk to him, trying to convince him to go into rehab. He tells Nick he thinks Nick should take this matter seriously.

Nick’s house, evening Nick comes into the empty and cold house. He takes a brown piece of paper from his pocket, looks at it as if considering it, then tosses it on the table. He then begins to spread out work on the table.

Next morning, Nick is again at the table. He picks up a glossy brochure Burton had given him about a rehab center. He looks it over, puts it down on the table. He next places a document in a protective cover on the table.

F&F There’s an important meeting, the clients are already in the conference room. Burton comes into lobby. Jake fills him in on status, says Nick isn’t there. Burton is aggravated, wonders where Nick is, but Jake says he’ll cover for now.

LSP Suzanne is waiting for Lulu when she arrives. Lulu is, of course, less than happy to see her. Suzanne says that Nick didn’t show up in court that morning, and as a result, Anita Hendricks didn’t get custody of her daughter back. Hendricks cuts at this point, clearly livid. Lulu takes her into her office to try to figure things out, but the next hearing is scheduled for a week away. Hendricks says she isn’t leaving until this is resolved, as she has done her part and wants her daughter back.
Lulu first sticks her head out the door calling for someone to bring her the file (she forgets Hendricks’ last name). A few minutes later, she yells out the door for someone to find Nick Fallin.

F&F Nick still hasn’t arrived. Burton tries calling Nick, but gets his answering machine. He leaves a message telling Nick that they need the letter there now, and that Nick is making them look ridiculous.

A clinic Nick is seen (in shades ) walking across the picturesque grounds of what looks to be the clinic in the brochure he had. He approaches the main building and goes in. As he approaches the receptionist’s desk, he is almost blinded by the extremely clear white light coming in through the windows. The receptionist (Maureen McCormick, aka Marsh Brady) greets him and asks if he really wants to be there. When he says yes, she says she’ll get “her” and that everyone loves Anne. Nick is surprised when he hears the name.

Anne’s office Anne is questioning Nick about why he’s there, what his drug of choice is (cocaine), how long he’s been using it (about 16 years), what about alcohol (yes), other drugs (yes, designer drugs), has he ever been in rehab (yes, court-ordered, 30 days), when did he last use (that morning!). She stops at this, and asks if he’s high now. Nick says no. She asks what he took, and he answers “blue mystic.” She comments that that’s a hallucinogenic, to which Nick just shrugs, commenting that he hasn’t noticed anything.

Anne tells Nick that he’s made a wise choice coming here, and asks what his method of payment will be. Nick answers credit card, and starts to get it out.
Just then the phone rings, and Anne explains that she has to take the call. Nick says no problem. You can’t tell what her conversation is about, but you can see that she is upset by it, and she essentially breaks down momentarily after hanging up, and then rushes out of the room.

LSP Lulu informs Suzanne that she’s arranged to clean up Nick’s mess, and that she needs to be at the courthouse at 4 pm. Suzanne says she can’t be there, and that another hearing has been arranged for next week. Lulu cuts her off and tells her to be there.

LSP elevator Nick gets in and pushes the button for LSP. A woman steps in, asks for the floor for the clinic, she thinks it’s called LSP. At that moment, Nick recognizes her as Anne, the counselor from the clinic.
He asks her what’s wrong. She says she has cancer and that her son doesn’t know. She’s got to find a place for him.
