Next thing we know, they’re in bed again! This is clearly after they’ve had sex, and they’re laying there talking. (He’s on his stomach, and his shoulders are exquisite!) She asks him if he remembers some old Pittsburgh kids’ television program, to which he replies that his mom didn’t let him watch television. But then he admits, that yes, he did watch it some when he was at his dad’s. They continue talking.
Suddenly, you hear the door open in the other room, and a man’s and child’s voices . . .

Yeah but its our romantic Nick and to be honest with you I'm thrilled the way he is... except maybe if he drops the facade around his Dad a bit more and not go back to drugs...

Cut to the living room, where Kim enters (fully dressed). The ex explains that she forgot to pack Mattie’s spelling book, to which she replies that HE forgot to get it. Nick walks into the room (straightening his tie). The ex makes a big deal of telling Nick that he’s a cop, and Nick shows that he’s not impressed. The ex and child leave, and after a quick, awkward exchange, so does Nick.

Children’s’ Services Nick goes to see Laurie, and tells her that the defense attorney wants to plea bargain. Laurie then confesses that she dropped the ball in Ronnie’s case and didn’t have the further testing done as she didn’t want to hold up his adoption. She then continues by telling Nick that not only that, but the foster mother had said that Ronnie was over-affectionate and wouldn’t leave her side, and that it scared her a little.
Nick points out that this would help Ronnie’s defense, but that it would hurt Laurie. She tells him that Ronnie is his responsibility, not her.

Still at LSoP, Kim has come to talk to Lulu about her custody case and tells her about a 2-night stand she’s had with a probationer. “With Nick Fallin?” asks Lulu. “Yes, I know I need to work on my choices,” says Kim with a rueful grin. Lulu has this sort of “Hmm, I never thought about setting those two up” look in her eyes. She asks Kim if her being with a probationer is a work violation, and Kim says no. Lulu assures Kim that this won’t affect her custody suit.

The Jail Nick’s gone back to see Ronnie, but the guard won’t let him in, telling Nick that Ronnie’s not cleared for visitors. Nick explains that he’s Ronnie’s guardian and that he’s been in to see him before. The guard explains that it’s different when a prisoner is in the infirmary. Nick asks why Ronnie’s been moved to the infirmary, and the guard tells him it’s because he tried to hang himself.
The defense attorney is sitting nearby, and Nick goes over and explains to him how Ronnie didn’t get the additional treatment that was recommended five years before.

Courtroom Laurie is on the stand explaining why she didn’t get Ronnie the therapy that had been recommended. We’re told that Laurie has been in Children’s’ Services for 28 years and is highly respected. She placed Ronnie five years before, and he is currently 13.
The attorneys make their closing statements, and the judge denies the change to juvenile court.
Laurie quickly leaves the courtroom, with Nick close behind. . .

Just then Lulu shows up in the hallway, and tells Nick that he doesnt reflect well on Kims case, and maybe he should take it easy. Nick, clearly distressed and wanting to talk to Laurie, tells Lulu "We were in a traffic accident. That's what you tell them. That's all they need to know."

F&S Nick shows up just as Jake and James are putting the finishing touches on the deal with the new client. Nick apologizes and says, “But I thought the meeting was at noon.” The client says “Yes, we showed up a little early.” Jake then explains to Nick that Mr. Stephenson wasn’t really interested in the deal Nick was suggesting, but that he (Jake) had instead suggested another company. Mr. Stephenson says “Yes, and your dad knew that I like to buy companies in trouble and turn them around.” He asks if they will be up to it, to which Nick smiles and answers the affirmative. Smiles all around as they’ve just landed their first big client with Jake anticipating just the right deal as always. Mr. Stephenson leaves.
As Nick turns to walk away (into an office maybe?), Jake, grinning from ear to ear, says “Listen, this Legal Services work isn’t going to get in the way of our work here is it?” Nick shoots him a dirty look as Jake turns to James and says something like “Touchy!”<br>

Children’s Services Nick takes Ronnie’s files back to Laurie. Laurie is sitting in her office, clearly dazed. Nick asks if she’s been fired, to which she tells him no, just given two weeks’ suspension.
