At Barbara’s urging, Evan and Nick go into the conference room to talk. Evan explains how things have changed in Mount Aire since their fathers grew up there, and explains how he has plans to build a children’s center there. He explains that Clayton Steel has agreed to put up half the money, but he needs other underwriters to fund the project.
Evan tells Nick that if he were to, say, pledge $10,000 a year for five years, at the end. . .
“I’d be out $50,000,” Nick interjects a bit coldly. Evan, still hopeful, gives Nick his card.
