Don't worry, jevee! I don't mind questions at all! I think he was in jail for beating someone up (not in the boxing ring), but I'm not exactly sure.

Courthouse hallway Nick meets up with Tim and Oscar prior to the custody hearing. Lulu runs into them, and seeing Tim’s bruised face, says she can help him with that. Despite Nick’s protestations, she leads Tim off to work on his face. As she’s putting makeup on it to cover the bruise, she and Tim chat about his upcoming fight.
When she’s finished, Tim makes the comment that she must have experience at this, as he detected scars on her face while she was working on his bruises. Lulu says “They’re from a car accident.” Tim tells her that “scars on a woman are sexy,” and thanks her for her help.

Thanks, Cecilia! Dorothy Parker was an American poet and critic. She also wrote a number of short stories. She was a New Yorker and known for her sharp witticisms. ;D

Courtroom Mr. Carpenter, Oscar’s maternal grandfather, explains why he and his wife should retain custody of Oscar, citing the fact that they have Oscar in a good private school, etc. In addition, he states, he’s afraid that Tim’s temper will land him back in prison.
When Nick begins to cross-examine Mr. Carpenter, he asks about Oscar’s mother. He asks if she hadn’t been in trouble with drugs off and on from the time she was thirteen. When Mr. Carpenter says yes, Nick asks “Then what makes you think you’ll do better this time?”, to which Mr. Carpenter’s lawyer objects.

A bar (Incline?) Jerry Novak is meeting with Lulu. As they get settled (perhaps for lunch?), he offers to make a down payment on a car for Lulu, but she declines. He then mentions that he is very concerned about Caroline being investigated by the feds. Lulu is clearly surprised at this, as this is the first she’s heard of it. Jerry says he’s afraid that Caroline isn’t taking the matter seriously enough, and he’s not sure that Burton and Nick are up to handling the case, but Caroline won’t let him call in his New York lawyers. Lulu mentions that she is perplexed Caroline hasn’t asked for her help, as she did clerk for the federal courts and knows how these things tend to work.

Yes Cecilia he is. He tries to keep a lid on it, and manages pretty well. But one scene in which Lulu is talking to Jake, while Nick is hovering and watching from a distance curious as hell, is pretty darned cute. LOL
