Automobile dealership Lulu is in the show room looking at a convertible while the salesman tells her about the car. Nick is standing back, taking it all in, but asking questions as well. He asks if the convertible has side airbags. The salesman says no, it doesn’t, but the SUV does. Nick tries to steer Lulu towards the SUV, but she isn’t interested, especially when Nick offers quietly to help with the down payment.

F&F Jake tells Lulu that he wants to take the Webbers’ story to the papers, but Lulu explains that Mrs. Webber is trying to get her daughter away from notoriety, not add to it.

Lulu’s house Caroline tells Lulu about her affair with Ben. She asks if what she says before the grand jury will be confidential, as she doesn’t want Jerry to find out. She jokingly says she doesn’t need a third divorce. Lulu assures her it will be confidential.

Incline Lulu and the Webber girl meet to talk. Lulu says she’s talked to the head cheerleader (the girl corrects her, saying they call her the cheerleading captain), other cheerleaders, and the cheerleading sponsor, who all deny that there is any sort of initiation for cheerleaders. When Lulu asks if any other former cheerleaders could back up the story, the girl says she doesn’t know any of them as she is only a freshman. But she immediately perks up as she remembers the school yearbooks in the school library, telling Lulu they can find the information there.

Courthouse Nick and Lulu are waiting in the hallway outside the courtroom where Caroline is testifying (no one is allowed to accompany people as they testify before the grand jury, not even their attorney). As they wait, Nick brings up the SUV again, but Lulu ignores him, asking how he likes her short haircut. He grins and tells her it’s cute. Lulu asks Nick if he’s going to the boxing match.
Caroline comes out of the courtroom, and Nick says he needs her to start telling him right now what she said, now before she forgets any of it. Caroline brushes him off, telling him she has something else to take care of. She is clearly upset.

F&F Jake and Lulu meet with the owner and operator of the bus service that provides transportation for the school district. They hold the bus service accountable for the whole incident, as the service, in their contract, have agreed to follow the school district’s policies. These policies state that for every 20 students on a bus there should be one additional adult chaperone. On the bus in question, there were 22 students and the only adult was the bus driver. The bus service guys try to lay the blame on the coaches for not riding with their players and cheerleaders, but Jake places the blame solidly in their court.

The bus service offers a settlement of $30,000 if the Webber girl will drop the suit; Jake counters at $50,000; the bus service counters with $40,000, to which Jake agrees. As the bus guys get ready to leave, Jake brings up another suit, that of the boy who was fellated on the bus. The two men try to argue that there is no way the boy can be considered a victim until Jake says that the boy is actually a closet homosexual and that the whole incident was extremely degrading to him. The bus service offers the same settlement they gave the Webber girl, but Jake says this is much bigger than that, he’s looking for hundreds of thousands. They say they’ll have to get back to him, to which Jake agrees.

Hospital Tim and his son are tossing a ball back and forth as Tim lies in the hospital bed. Burton enters. Tim explains that the doctors are keeping him a while longer in case of concussion. Burton sends Oscar to get him a drink from a nearby vending machine so he can talk to Tim in private. He points out that with the concussion, broken rib, and ocular damage, the boxing commission won’t let Tim fight. He recommends that Tim think about doing something else, but Tim says he has nothing else.

F&F Lulu comes in and confronts Jake regarding the second case he brought in. She tells Jake that under the circumstances he should give all the fees from the Webber case to LSP. Jake tries to argue, but she points out that she chose this firm because her mother is one of their largest clients, and if needs be, she will bring her mother into the issue. Jake has them cut Lulu a check for the full $13,000.
