223 All the Rage
Replay of final scene from last episode, but from other point of view. We watch from over LuLu’s shoulder as Nick runs towards the elevator, the weird lady with the teddy bears in tow. The door closes, the elevator goes down, LuLu gets off in the parking garage as the teddy bear woman’s husband gets on. He rides back up. When the door opens, Nick is furiously dialing LuLu’s cell phone to try to reach her while teddy bear lady gripes at her husband for bringing the wrong bear.
On the elevator, Nick leaves a message for Lulu to call him before her plane leaves.

Courthouse In the hallway on the way to the hearing, Nick is still trying to reach Lulu. All the while the bear lady is rattling on an on explaining her case to him. She’s telling him that no one complains when so-and-so puts up their Christmas displays.
(Apparently she puts up seasonal displays with these huge teddy bears, dressing them up in costume)

Courtroom The other attorney is presenting her clients’ side of the case. Nick is sitting there, clearly preoccupied with his own thoughts as the story unfolds. Suddenly his cell phone, which is lying on the table in front of him, starts vibrating and skidding across the table. Grabbing it, he quietly says “Hello?” It’s Lulu, and apparently she’s upset. The judge, seeing Nick on the phone, asks him what he’s doing. Nick tries to explain that this is a very important call, but the judge orders him to end it. Nick refuses, trying to calm Lulu down while trying to put the judge off. The judge is bellowing at Nick to hang up, the other attorney is presenting her case, the bear lady is yelling at Nick and trying to make her case. The judge tells Nick he’s fining him, but Nick keeps trying to placate Lulu as pandemonium ensues.

Finally, totally frustrated, Nick shuts the phone and slams it down on the table in fury. Looking at the judge and the others, he says, “We are talking about stuffed animals here dressed up as soldiers—is this important?” As Nick utters these words, the judge calls the bailiff, citing Nick for contempt of court.

No Cecilia, we don't. It's very much a one-sided conversation (we only see Nick's side), and the whole situation is so chaotic it's hard to make out what Nick is even saying.

Therapist’s office The therapist, a thin, balding man in his early thirties asks Nick why he is here. Nick says that he has been ordered to attend anger management training. He has three court-ordered visits and he’s done. The therapist tries to get Nick to open up a bit, asking him why he’s here, but all Nick will say is that he threw a cell phone. The therapist continues, but Nick will say nothing. Finally, giving up, the therapist tosses a book onto the sofa next to Nick and tells him to read the first three chapters and fill out the worksheets. And by the way, it’s $30 for the book, $105 for the session, and he takes checks.
Nick says nothing, but shows a sardonic smirk.

Burton’s house It’s Shannon’s birthday party, and Shannon and her friends are dancing. Burton is present, party hat on head and drink in hand, smiling indulgently at the scene. The door rings. It’s Nick, who Burton greets with a “Glad you were able to make it.” Nick hands over a gift, the same one we saw at his office. As he hands it to Burton, Nick confides that it’s a nail polish kit. Burton laughs, saying it’s a coincidence as he’s hired someone from a salon to come over and do the girls’ nails later. He says all the girls there are spending the night.

Burton asks Nick if he can stay awhile, but Nick says he has some things he has to do. Burton asks if Nick and Lulu are still coming to the symphony benefit Friday. Nick says yes, and Burton says that Shannon will be his little “date,” that he thinks she’ll enjoy it. Nick, after calling out to Shannon wishing her a happy birthday, leaves (Shannon gives him a bit of a dirty look).
Shannon tries to get Burton to dance with them, but Burton just laughs and says no.

A few seconds later, the doorbell rings again. This time when Burton answers it, it’s Roy Cantwell, Shannon’s father. He introduces himself, saying that he’s here to see his daughter. He’s decided he wants Shannon back after all. He goes over to Shannon and starts talking to her, telling her who he is and how her mother and grandmother wouldn’t let him see her.

Taleek’s place James comes over again and sits down to hang out with Taleek. He starts telling Taleek about his nephew Levi, about how Levi had been in a gang, and about how Levi was killed. As he tells the story, he then goes into the story of how distraught he was and how his grief led him to seek revenge, how he made the mistake of trusting someone he shouldn’t have trusted, Winston, and how Winston set him up. . . Taleek realizes that James was one of the men who beat him up.

LSP Alvin is introducing everyone to Larry, a new lawyer who’s joining them. Larry is an optimist, terribly perky, cheerful, etc. Nick comes in, and Alvin introduces him as “works with us part-time.” Nick heads over to his office/closet.
