Lulu’s house Lulu is sitting on the sofa having a glass of wine. The doorbell rings, and it’s Nick. Lulu, not noticing his tired, strained expression, drapes herself on him and starts kissing him and leading him towards the stairs. Nick stops her, saying not right now. She wants to know why, and he tells her it’s been a long day. Lulu, smiling, tells him she’s drunk and pulls at his belt again. Seeing Nick isn’t playing, she goes back over to sit on the sofa.
As she pours another glass of wine, she announces she got the job. Nick, surprised, just says “Really?” Lulu says yes, they called about an hour ago. When Nick doesn’t say anything, she drunkenly raises her glass and announces “Congratulations to me!” Nick says, “Yeah, congratulations.” When he asks if she’s going to take it, she answers yes, and tells Nick “You’re off the hook. Cheers!” Nick looks on, puzzled and hurt.

Harsh but true. Once they think they can manipulate you with these kind of tricks there really is nothing to be done.

Tell me you are joking. That is just sick. I´d be send to jail. I´m thinking of Nick and the quick-business-call almost all the time...so I´d probably have a "high" sexual response to anything they´d show me!

Therapist’s office Nick shows up for his final visit. The therapist starts by asking, “Is there anything you want to say?”
Nick: “Nah-no.”
Therapist: “You still have thirty minutes left.”
Nick: “Okay.”
Therapist: “If you want, you can split now.”
Nick: “You really take this seriously, don’t you?”
Therapist: “Does this mean you want to talk?”
Nick says nothing.
Therapist: “For what it’s worth, I’m going to tell you a couple of things. You’re shut down. You can’t even write down your feelings on a simple worksheet, let alone voice them.
The majority of your problems come from your fear of communicating emotion with the people in your life. You might want to let your feelings out, see where they take you.”
Nick: “Um, can I sit in your chair?” (I think meaning can I tell you what I think of you now?)
The therapist tells him the cost of the book and the sessions, and Nick leaves.

LuLu does seem hurt by Nick leaving, or at least suprised. She's wearing what looks to be a camisole or something (we see straps). I didn't see a checkerboard, Leonie! :cussing: Hum... what I wrote, but seems to have disappeared was, I didn't see a checkerboard either. Only rumpled sheets - mind racing into the gutter, imagining what went on before. ;D

F&F Clay comes into Burton’s office and tells him the good news that Roy Cantwell has dropped the charges. He claims he “misunderstood” what Shannon told him. After Clay leaves, Nick comes in, and asks his father how much he paid Cantwell. Burton denies it, saying Cantwell just changed his mind. As Nick prepares to leave, Burton reminds him of the symphony benefit that night. Nick says “Yeah. You, me, Shannon, and Lulu. It’ll be a blast” and walks out.

Shelter Laurie explains to Shannon that her father dropped the charges and asks if Shannon agrees with that. Shannon, after taking a quick glance at Laurie out of the corner of her eye, says that yeah, she didn’t say Burton did anything gross. Laurie tells Shannon that now she can go back to living with Burton. Shannon announces that she doesn’t want that, that she wants to live with her dad instead. Laurie says she doesn’t know if that’s possible.
We see Laurie go into a waiting room and start talking to Burton.

What are you talking about? What kind of feelings?”
Nick: “I love you.”
Lulu: “What?” quizzical expression “Did you just say that because of the job? Do we see Nick leaving Lulu´s house (after the cheers!)?... I mean, in which terms are they suppose to be?

After all her acting up and manipulation - she doesn't know how to respond? Ok - now send HER to therapy.

We see him walk across the main room and get on the elevator. Time lapse photography shows people getting on and off during the rest of the day. Finally it is closing time. Lulu and Alvin wind up standing side by side waiting for the elevator. Alvin asks if she’s heard anything about the job yet, and Lulu says no. They get on the elevator. James and the new guy Larry were also waiting to get on, but wait for the next trip as the elevator is full.

As the elevator returns to their floor, James and Larry approach the doors. The doors open and Taleek is standing inside. James speaks to him, but Taleek doesn’t say anything. He simply reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a gun. Raising it, he fires and shoots Larry in the forehead. He fires again, getting James in the shoulder. He then steps back, pushes the elevator button, and leaves.
The phone starts to ring in the darkened office, and James starts to stir a bit. He looks over at Larry and sees the bullet hole in his forehead. You get the impression James can’t move.

Burton’s car Nick and Burton (dressed in tuxes) are on their way to the benefit. Burton makes the comment that it’s too bad Lulu couldn’t make it. He and Nick ride along, a couple of inane comments are made as Burton starts looking for a parking place, and then Nick makes the comment “Sometime we need to talk.”
