Courthouse It’s 4.40, and Nick and Barbara are still waiting. Barbara, looking crestfallen, says “He’s not coming.” She repeats this, and Nick goes to tell the justice. The justice leaves. Nick and Barbara remain sitting on the bench, Barbara in complete misery. Suddenly, the justice comes back through the doors, with Evan on his heels. Evan grins beatifically at Barbara and says “Told you I’d make it.”<br>

LSP Alvin explains to Nick that Todd, hearing that there will be no settlement to help with Kenny’s upkeep (they estimate that with his problems it will cost $11 million to care for Kenny the rest of his life), and that Social Services is going to require weekly physicals for Kenny (in case of abuse), is overwhelmed and has backed out. Kenny will return to the psychiatric hospital, because there is no other place for him. You can tell Nick is bothered by this.

Hospital Nick is finally allowed in to see Lulu. He tells her that this is the first time they’ve let him in. He’s teary. He tells her “Before this happened, you were talking to me about fate.” He goes on, telling her that he knows that it would be hard for her to not be the way she was before, and “If you’re not going to be who you are, you can just let go.” He kisses her hand, presses it to her cheek, and leaves.
The door no sooner shuts, than we see Lulu’s eyelids flicker and open.
Note: Here eyes open, and we see a sort of blankness. However, the scene ends so quickly we don’t know if she adjusts and focuses on anything, or shows any recognition.

Psychiatric hospital Kenny sits in a chair at a table, spinning his top, still totally without expression. He seems to understand none of what has happened.

This episode looks great... I dont' like the idea of LuLu staring blankly though but because they only showed it for like 2 seconds I'll let it go for now. If LuLu doesn't know who Nick is when the next new episode comes on I'm going *huggles Gin* Great summary Gin! Poor Kenny and Poor Nick and Poor LuLu!

[quote Brian says no, that he’s going to head back to Columbus, but asks that Nick tell LuLu he was here when she wakes up.[/quote]
Hum..interesting how Brian came to make sure that Lulu received the proper medical care and then left without knowing for sure that she'd be okay. Guess he figures that she's in good hands - Nick's!

For the record I really liked this episode. There is so much potential for future episodes. I just hope that DH and company realise it and don't "fix" things up too quickly.

Hales, even if she does forget him surely she would get new ideas just looking at him.
[Lulu's inner dialog:
Hm - who is this gorgeous stranger who is looking at me like that? He really seems to like me .. Maybe I'm in with a chance .. God, I hope he's not my brother. ]

Spunky - also how can you possibly forget someone as gorgeous as Nick? Your quote rocks though!

This is just a thought -- but Lulu's eyes might have been very slow to open and with the movement because they haven't been opened (unless forcefully to check for dilation of the pupils by doctors) in a few days. After having them closed for so long, even the smallest amount of light might bother her. I watched the scene again, there is slight movement ... but I think a lot of her reaction might be waking up and finding herself alone, allowing those flicking eyes to adjust. Side note, at the beginning of the episode they had said that Lulu had "blunt trauma" to her left parietal lobe, which is important for the sense of touch and the spatial layout of an environment. While TG isn't always the best for continuity, that might have something to do with Lulu's recovery (she WILL get well) And, the surgeon, Jonah Horowitz (Eric Siegel), is scheduled to be in the 18th episode, "My Aim is True" as well. My guess is that we will find out then what the extent of her recovery is and if there are any lingering affects, as after the surgery he said things went "very well and her vitals were stable." I guess we just have to keep in mind that the episode could start later that day or three weeks later... should be interesting

As she runs out into the hall, Nick follows her. She is sobbing, and asks who will love and take care of LuLu. And who will love him!..... It was heartbreaking to see this man in so much pain,.....you would want to reach into the tv screen and hold him! Nick has been trying to comfort and help the boy Luke; Mother Caroline; bride to be, Barbara - by putting oh so slightly his arm around her (the Nick Fallin way), after she keeps telling Nick at the Courthouse: "he's not coming", and... LuLu! And no one was crying for him - while being so lonely and alone!

Yes but didn't we have the 'very, very, very, very' *winks at Gine* worried and concerned Burton asking him about his hand and telling him not to work too late? which makes me want to cry because Burton does that to me, especially when its to do with Nick... But yes I agree Nick needed a hug and a hug, and did I mention a 'hug'?

Yes but didn't we have the 'very, very, very, very' *winks at Gine* worried and concerned Burton asking him about his hand and telling him not to work too late? Yes Hales - Papa Burton did that, and he was very concerned, and that was sweet. And other people did ask also (in the passing), "how's your hand"? But you know, it was just so much more than the hand; it was emotional pain - I think! You could just cry! Nick needed a hug - a big hug! <~> ...<~> ... <~> Thank you Gin, as always a very nice summary! *big hug for you too*
