Nick’s cell, Nick pacing restlessly.
Mandy’s room, Mary sitting by the bed crying.
Nick’s cell again, Nick lying on the bunk, restless, trying to read, closes the book and tosses it aside.

I think Burton had contacted Alvin and asked him to get Mary over there and said he would bring Shannon there to meet her.

Okay I'm going to bawl now that I read the part where Burton asks Alvin if Nick's ever spoken to him... :bawling:

James is sitting at the Incline. Jake comes in and joins him. James explains that he needs help getting his foot in the door at C&A. Jake tells James that he can’t help, as he’s quit C&A, that he and Nick are starting their own firm. “Corporate?” James asks. Jake says yes (he may also say they’ll be branching out). When he hears about the new firm, he asks to work with them.

The Hospital
Burton shows up, and he and Mary go into Mandy’s room to talk. He explains that Nick is in trouble over this, and she says he probably deserves it, that “Men always take advantage of [Mandy].” Burton explains to her what Shannon told him, and asks if she will allow Shannon to testify. Mary says no.

You can't really tell how Burton feels. He seems hurt, worried, and he can't decide what to believe. I think he wants to believe Nick, but doesn't know if he can.

Oh... so I take it Burton's hurt that Nick did in fact not tell him about it earlier?... anyone want to poke their tongues out at me and say "I told you so" because its the only time you can...  |

Lulu comes to see Nick at the Jail. (She’s not in evening dress, by the way, she’s wearing a black and white shell.)
Nick is giving her a bit of the cool reception, and says “Nice of you to come. How are you?” She looks a little hurt at his coolness. She tells him how busy she is with James having quit and him “in here.” She tells him that Alvin has her working on all his cases. She starts to ask him about a case, and he interrupts, asking “Why did you marry Brian?” She looks taken aback by this, and replies “What do you mean?” She tries to go back to her question about the case.

Well, Hales, Nick tries to tell his father that he can handle this on his own, but Burton insists on helping him. I think he is a bit miffed that Nick hadn't told him earlier, but had tried to shield him from it.
